Don't get too close to your new family.
That's what Izuku promised himself. So that, eventually, when he had to leave, it would be less painful for himself and his adoptive family.
But it was so hard to do that when his new parents reminded himself so much of Brimstone and Killjoy. How caring they were and how understanding they were of his situation.
Mr. and Mrs. Uraraka were a completely normal pair of husband and wife, that was obvious, but they extraordinarily insightful. It took them a whole month, but they made him feel okay with pouring out his worries to them.
Sometimes, in the middle of the night, Izuku would wake up in a cold sweat, breathing hard. Sometimes, he'd even scream, awakening from whatever traumatic event he was reliving, whether it be the First Light or watching his parents being killed as a small child or one of numerous other things.
Every time, as if on cue, either Mrs. Uraraka or Mr. Uraraka would come out of their bedroom to comfort him when he'd awake. They'd give him a shoulder to cry on without a word and let him cry himself to sleep again in their arms.
He had heard horror stories from children who had escaped their adoptive parents. That they were abusive and that they pretty much took them in for two reasons: money or radianite. The Urarakas were the exact oppposite of that. They cared for Izuku as if he were their own flesh and blood and he appreciated them for that.
Which made it harder and harder to not let them get to him. Everyday, he was conflicted between wishing for his squadmates to find him and wishing to staying longer.
And then there was the case of the Urarakas' daughter.
Izuku was starting to notice that, as time went on, he was becoming more and more flustered around her. He was starting to blush around her. He couldn't possibly falling in love with her...right?
All his life, Izuku had been around people who were a lot older than him. The youngest of his squadmates, Raze, was twenty-three years old. Ochaco was actually the first female that he had interacted with that was the same age as he was.
Despite his awkwardness when conversating with her, Izuku got along well with Ochaco. Despite her normal teen girl appearance, she was a very determined figure as well as very insightful. She always seemed to know when something was on Izuku's mind. She was the person Izuku was the most comfortable being around.
Between studying and training for the exam, Izuku started trying to get more about the "superheroes" in this world. Whether it be Ryuku, Hawks, Best Jeanist, Kamui Woods, Izuku made sure to get to know them all.
They all just had Quirks though. Quirk powers were a lot more diverse than Radiant powers, but, as Izuku had expected, they were a lot weaker than them as well.
The one that caught his interest the most, though, was All-Might, the number one hero in this world.
His amazing power was what caught Izuku's interest. News videos and and displays of his power were all over the internet. No matter how big or strong his opponents were, he'd always seem to easily overpower them, usually leaving a few or more small craters behind in the process.
There was a lot of speculation over what All-Might's Quirk might be all over the internet. Some people think it was just simply superhuman strength. Others thought it was something more complicated than that. Some even thought that he wasn't a human, but a robot with a super advanced AI and a sense of justice coded into his programming.
Izuku had another theory.
For weeks on end, Izuku scrutinized over every little bit of footage of All-Might in action that he could find. Mr. Uraraka, confused by his sudden All-Might addiction after hearing his hate towards superheroes, questioned Izuku if his beliefs had changed. His father bought his fake excitement with a chuckle and told him to carry on.
