"Commander, we're just now approaching the border of South Africa," Viper says, rousing Brimstone from his nap.
At the moment, he, Viper, Breach, and Reyna were sitting in a small, light grey aircraft. It was a standard-issue Valorant aircraft, a light aircraft designed more for travel than for defense. The armory inside of it was stacked with ammunition and guns as well as an RPG. Mounted to the wings of the aircraft were two small Anti-Air guns for defense.
He rubs at his eyes and looks out one of the small windows. Sure enough, he saw land poking out of a thick sheet of fog in the dark, nighttime sky. According to the aircraft's built-in GPS, that bit of land was the Southern tip of Africa.
"Alright everyone, gear up," Brimstone says, getting up from his seat to stretch his legs. "We're approaching enemy territory. Breach, prime the AA-guns, make sure they're full of ammunition, and activate our nanite shields. Reyna, prep the landing gear. Viper and I will make sure that all of our gear are in proper condition."
Reyna and Breach both respond with "Yes, Commander" before turning to glowing, light blue screens right beside them. They start silently tapping away at the screen, only the sound of a few small beeps and the quiet hum of the engine ringing throughout the small aircraft.
Brimstone and Viper both shuffle throughout their equipment.
"Hey, Breach," Brimstone calls. "You're missing an incendiary fuse. You wanna borrow one of my mollies?"
"You do remember the last time you offered me one of your mollies in place of an incendiary fuse, right?" Breach asks.
The bio-berserker (as the Valorant agents liked to call Breach) didn't speak to Brimstone with the same formalities that the other agents usually did. It irritated him a bit at first, but he learned to deal with it.
"Hey, commander," Reyna calls. "I'm getting something on the radar. Several somethings."
"Hostile?" Brimstone asks.
"I'm not sure," Reyna says. "All I'm sure of is that it's-"
Suddenly, several loud explosion sounds go off outside of the aircraft followed by a phasing sound.
"Big," Reyna says. "Whatever hit us just ate 13% of our shield. Shield strength is at 87%. Nanites are currently repairing the hole in the shield."
"Great, we haven't even reached land yet and we're already being attacked," Viper says.
"AA missile defenses," Reyna says. "Looks like we're flying right over a seaside base of unknown ownership. More missiles incoming."
More explosions. The screen beside Reyna glows red, a box with the text 'Shield Status: 75%' appears.
"Can we locate the AA-missile defenses?" Brimstone asks.
"Not from our height, no," Reyna responds with. "It's too foggy outside to get a good scan."
"Crap," Brimstone mutters. "Alright, let's high-tail it then. Breach, will you do the honors?"
"Of course," Breach says, grinning as he slams his fist on the screen to his right.
Brimstone, Viper, Reyna, and Breach are all suddenly pushed to the back of the aircraft as it suddenly shoots forward like a missile. On the screen beside Reyna, a box reading "Nitro speed activated. Shield effectiveness reduced by 13%" pops up.
Suddenly, the aircraft abruptly slows down. The four agents jerk back into their seats and quickly recollect themselves. Brimstone sighs and turns on his bracer. An orange projection of the Earth appears in the air.
