Again, Izuku found himself awake to in an infirmary room, tied to an IV this time.
The moment he awoke, he saw Ochaco reading a magazine on a chair beside his hospital bed. When she heard him shuffle to get into a sitting position on the bed, she turned to him. Her eyes lit up and a bright smile appeared on her face.
"Izuku-kun!" she exclaims, throwing her arms around his waist for a hug. "You're awake!"
"Uraraka-san!" he grunts in pain. "Ribs still hurt!"
"Oh," she says, quickly seating herself back into the chair. "Sorry. I forgot."
"It's fine," Izuku says, chuckling while mussing Ochaco's hair.
"Izuku!" Mr. Uraraka exclaims as he and Mrs. Uraraka enter the infirmary.
"Father," Izuku greets, bowing his head slightly. "Mother."
"How are you feeling, Izuku?" Mrs. Uraraka asks warmly.
"I feel fine," Izuku says, scratching the back of his head. "Ribs still sting a little, but that's only if someone touches them."
"That is to be expected," Recovery Girl says, walking into the infirmary with a clipboard in hand. "Your ribs were in pretty bad shape. When I x-rayed you after the fight, rib bone fragments were in your bloodstream. However, I didn't need to do surgery because whatever was in your blood was already in the process of vaporizing those fragments. As far as I can tell, your life is not at all in danger and I'll be discharging you in a few days. I recommend that you try not to get into any crazy fights anytime soon. I have alerted your teachers back at UA to not let you do anything crazy. And, very soon, All-Might should be-"
At that exact moment, the door swings open and a very muscular All-Might in a sharp business suit enters the room dramatically.
"I AM HERE!" he bellows. "ENTERING THE ROOM LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"
There were some very mixed reactions around the room. Izuku just casually waves at the number one pro hero. Mrs. Uraraka yelps slightly in surprise and Mr. Uraraka backs up into the wall behind him. Ochaco drops her magazine and nearly falls out of her chair. Recovery Girl just rolls her eyes.
"All Might!" Mr. Uraraka exclaims, recovering from his initial shock. "Oh my gosh, I don't think I'd ever see you in person before my death! What are you doing here?"
"WELL, MR. URARAKA, I WOULD JUST LIKE TO CONGRATULATE YOUR SON FOR WINNING FIRST PLACE IN THIS YEAR'S UA SPORTS FESTIVAL!" All-Might booms. "DUE TO THE UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCE OF YOUR SON HAVING TO BE PUT IN THE INFIRMARY IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FINALS DUEL, I AM HERE TO GRANT HIM HIS FIRST PLACE MEDAL!"
All Might reaches into his shirt pocket and pulls out a small shiny, golden medal.
"CONGRATULATIONS, IZUKU MIDORIYA!" he booms. "MAY YOUR FUTURE AS A HERO BE EVER SO BRIGHT!"
"Oh, thanks," Izuku says, taking the medal from the hero's outstretched hand.
"WELL, IF THAT IS ALL, I SHALL BE TAKING MY LEAVE!" All Might shouts. "GOOD DAY TO YOU ALL!"
At that, All Might suddenly disappears from the room, a large gust of wind following him out the door.
For the next few minutes, the room is completely silent, save for the slow beeping of Izuku's heartbeat monitor.
"Well, that was certainly interesting," Mrs. Uraraka says.
"Well, Izuku, we just wanted to come by to check on you," Mr. Uraraka says. "We really need to get back to work. Do you want something to eat?"
