Ever since Izuku found himself in this brand new, pre-Radiant world of Quirks and heroes, he felt...bored to say the least.
Back when he was actively working as an agent in the Valorant agency, he usually had to fight for something, whether it be protecting or salvaging radianite or assassinating people or a number of other things. And those missions were actually genuinely dangerous. He was going up against guys who would kill him on sight with the confidence that there was nobody to get into their way of that.
But that was not the case in this world. Because he was classified as a minor, he wasn't allowed to get into any actual fights. The closest he got to those were fighting his classmates, and even then, he couldn't really fight his hardest in danger of hurting them and getting Ochaco and his parents in trouble.
Then he fought Todoroki, who turned it to be much more powerful than he had ever expected someone with a Quirk to be. He was powerful enough to be quite the workout for Izuku, but he was just a boy with a Quirk. He wasn't a Radiant.
The thrill of combat, the fun of fighting an opponent that could possibly be the death of him, he couldn't remember the last time he had felt it. He couldn't remember the last time he got into a real battle, a battle he would enjoy fighting in.
Inu Yukimura, his opponent in the Finals round for the UA Sports' Festival Duels, aims an elbow at Izuku's ribs. Izuku cleanly sidesteps the elbow and whips his foot across, hitting the side of Yukimura's head and sending him flying off to the side.
Izuku's opponent flips back onto his feet and grins wolfishly at him. He bears his arms and as they glow with light blue energy.
All it took was one glance at Yukimura to know that this boy was not an average high schooler, not even by UA standards. His short grey hair, dull grey pupils, and perfectly sized glasses gave him a bit of a nerdy-professor look. However, he was muscular, more so than the other students of Class 1A. Though he stood tall and confident, looking down from his nose at Izuku, the look in his eyes betrayed cold calculation.
He had all the qualities of a fighter, someone worthy of being feared.
So far, Izuku got hit seven times by Yukimura's Quirk and still didn't really know what Yukimura's Quirk was. He was holding on the best he could, but he was really starting to worry about his ribs and he knew that his stamina wasn't infinite. Eventually, he'd be knocked down by one of Yukimura's attacks and won't have the capability to get back up.
He did notice a couple of things though. He noticed that Yukimura's eyes would shift from a pale grey to a shiny cyan right before he threw an attack at Izuku. Then his eyes would be back to pale grey after the next blink.
That possibly meant that it wasn't just Yukimura's arms that glowed with energy whenever he used his Quirk, but his whole body, not including his head. Izuku couldn't be sure since the track pants all the students of UA were required to wear to the Festival were long and completely covered his legs.
He was then reminded of Yoru's powers. Whenever he would traverse through rifts, his whole body would be enveloped in a dark blue aura. When Izuku asked him about it once, Yoru said that it was because nobody, Radiant or otherwise, could enter rifts without having their body being scattered into millions of particles, never to be seen again.
Izuku now had a possible theory for what Yukimura's Quirk was. It was a long shot, but honestly, he didn't have a lot of options left.
So when he saw Yukimura's arms glow light blue, he waited for the boy to start dashing at him before charging energy into his arms and firing off a wide radial blast all around him, one that Yukimura couldn't possibly dodge because of his momentum.
