Ok, gently...gently...
Yoru, with as much gentleness as he could, lays the chocolate-haired girl in his arms onto the bed. After doing so, he slowly lifts the blankets over her body and slowly takes a step back. He waits for a second before tiptoeing out of the bedroom.
After quietly shutting the door, Yoru takes leans against the wall for a moment to take a deep breath.
Out of all the things he did during his career as an agent, he found it quite hilarious that that was what ended up being the most stressful thing he had ever done. Hell, he'd done reverse interrogations less stressful than that. And those literally required him to drop himself into the hands of his enemies.
I miss the thrill of getting into an intense firefight with at least a dozen other guys, Yoru thinks to himself. This world is way too passive for my tastes. I feel like blowing something up.
The agent sighs quietly before tiptoeing out of the apartment and closing the door behind him.
Hmm, I wonder where Spark is right now, Yoru thinks to himself.
He raises a finger to the communications device in his ear and presses a button on it. An orange holographic screen is projected right in front of his eyes, revealing his fellow squadmates' locations, current health points, shield points, ultimate status, etc.
Looks like Spark's still in the park, most likely still fighting with Bushido Alpha guy. I should probably assist him. I'm slightly worried that Spark might not be his match. Maybe I can snatch the Leech Bitch, too.
He turns to the door leading to the staircase down the apartment building, preparing to exit. Just as he's about to open the door though, he hears a small, quiet pinging sound from his earpiece.
He immediately recognized that short, but meaningful ping. Any agent would immediately recognize it.
It was one signaling the presence of a nearby explosive detected by his handy dandy comms device.
Yoru takes a step away from the door. Almost immediately, the pinging stops. He takes a step forward towards the door and the pinging starts again.
What the hell are explosives doing here?
Yoru fits his mask over his face. The world flashes blue as he travels into the world underneath the fabric of reality. He then pushes the door open and walks down the staircase, walking right past a janitor, who he knows can't see him.
The pinging gets quicker and quicker as he descends the staircase. It quickens even more as he walks past the door into the lobby and down the staircase to the basement door.
Yoru pushes open the door and walks into the large, dimly-lit basement. Using his comms device as a tracker, he walks all the way to the back of the empty basement, which had stacks of wooden crates and metal shelves with various items on them scattered all around. The pinging then becomes an incessantly quick beeping when he approaches one of the wooden crates towards the back, one that had a label with the logo of some candy company named KABOOM! on it.
Yoru takes his mask off of his face. The blue tint recedes to the sides of his vision, indicating his passage back into the real world. Yoru takes out his knife and quietly unseals the box.
He lifts the wooden lid to find a glowing, lime green cylindrical object with a small black rectangle with a small red beeper attached to the side of it. It was a pretty large cylinder too, almost as long as his arm. The riftmaster immediately recognizes the object.
