MISDIRECTED CHAPTER: The secret

The smell of cofee was strong trough the room.

He sat on the sofa, his nostrils greeted by the aroma. It was a different scenery from his usual room but he knew that one as well.

So, it wasn't too different in the end.

" Toast, are you still buying that cofee bag?", he asked.

Toast: " What the hell are you talking about?"

" I swore I heard you talk about something like that."

Toast: " Weird, I never said that."

He was confused but he put in on the dream. The aroma from the kitchen was getting thicker.

He went off to grant himself a satisfying drink. He noticed Yvonne in the kitchen.

" Sykkuno, you're suspicious", is the sentence he was encountered with.  It didn't surprise him, he was expecting this kind of reaction.

" What?"

Coming from nowhere, a wild groupie took an opportunity. She had an all knowing smile on her face, as if she knew something the people here didn't.

" Did you know Sykkuno's hiding a secret?" , she said.

" Really?", answered Yvonne.

He didn't quite catch what she was talking about.

" What secret would I be hiding?",he said in an almost mocking tone.

Lily:" That's some weird photo to have on your phone."

She presented the subject matter to him.

" When did you grab my phone?"

A picture of Rae could be seen on the phone screen.  It wasn't anything too suspicious, it was akin to a picture from a photoshoot she had did long ago.

Yvonne: "Sykkuno?!"

Lily: " Yeah, that's what I tought too."

He tried to explain himself.

" I mean, don't you think she looks really cool here?"

He looked kind of amazed.

Yvonne: " Yeah, but why do you have that picture on your phone? "

The devilish smile appeared again.

Lily: " That's what I meant by secret."

Yvonne: " Oh, that's what you were talking about."

It felt like he was out of the loop.

" What?"

Lily: " Don't worry, your secret is well hi.....Shit! Forget that."

Someone in the room didn't seem so pleased about what was going on. She had gotten in the house two days earlier than him and had just entered the kitchen.

Yvonne: " Yikes."

Lily: " Sykkuno, behind you!"

He turned back to see what caused her to panic.

" Oh, hi Rae."

He didn't seem phased whatsoever.

" Hi. What's that secret they're talking about?", she said with a fake laughter.

" Don't really know."

She pinched his nose.

" What are you doing?!", he said in response.

" I heard", she said in response.

She continued to pinch his nose back and forth.

The two others had profited of the chaos to escape from similar treatments.

" Rae, please, stop grabbing my nose..."

Toast had finally come to the kitchen to grab his fill.

He only said " Oh, you guys are at it again" before leaving the room without commenting any further.

Rae: " Come back here!"

She was still pinching his noise while shouting at him.

Sykkuno: " B-b-but Rae, you don't think you look really cool in that picture ?"

She released his nose.

Rae: " I guess. Don't ever let me see it again tough."

He felt threatened.

Rae: " Anyway, that supposed secret, what was that about? "

He started sweating.

" Nice weather, right."

Rae: " What do you mean? We're inside. Wait! Don't change the subject!"

" I mean. Are you really sure you want to know?"

Rae: " You don't trust me? I am capable of keeping a secret?"

He looked the other way.

" I don't think you can keep that one."

Rae: " Are you implying I can't keep secrets?"

She prepared to pinch his nose again.

" That's not what I mean!"

Rae: " I don't understand. I mean, I can't know if you don't tell me."

" The problem is are you really sure you want to know?"

Rae: " Trust me."

Yvonne had came back to kitchen.   unknown to them.  Rae heard a noise and turned back her head to see her standing in the kitchen in front of them.

" I like you."

Having turned her head, the words he said were now directed at Yvonne.

Yvonne: " Hum, Sykkuno?"

At this exact moment, Rae felt a mix of emotions that were akin to regret and jealousy.

Rae: " S-so that was the secret?"

Her voice was trembling.

Yvonne: " Rae, I think you're mista..."

Before she could ever finish that sentence, she had already left the room.

" Did she think I said that to you?"

Yvonne: " Yeah, seems like it."

" Why would she react like that ?"

Yvonne: " Your lack of experience is showing."

" Hm?"

Yvonne: " You fix that yourself."

" Fix what?"

Yvonne: " Oh my god. This one is gonna be tough, I can already feel it. "
