One Week Later...

It was Saturday. Anita was in her dorm, packing a bag. She and Sophie were going back home for the dance competition, which took place later that day. In about an hour, Anita's mom was going to pick up the both of them.

Anita was feeling good. She hadn't seen a trace of Loki since the day she stayed the night at Sophie's dorm. She was beginning to think that he had given up on her. She hoped that was the case.

When she was almost done packing up, there was a knock at her door. She stopped and went to it. She looked out the peephole. It was Caspian. Before opening the door, she fixed her wavy pink hair. Then she opened it.

"Hey, Caspian! What's up?"

"Hey, I just wanted to stop by to give you this."

In his hands, he held her skateboard. It was back in one piece. Her jaw dropped. She couldn't even tell that it had been broken. She took it from him and looked it over closely.

"How did you..."

"I glued the pieces together. You can't really tell unless you look really closely in the middle. There's a crack."

She did just that and sure enough, she noticed a crack.

"I also changed your wheels too. They were looking a little worn. I hope that's okay."

She looked at the wheels too. "Wow. This is amazing. Thank you. So much." She looked up at him. "I can pay you for fixing it. You probably went through a lot to fix it."

He laughed. "Yeah, it wasn't easy. But it's okay. I don't want you to pay me."

"Are you sure? I have cash on me."

"No. It's okay. I didn't do it to get money or anything. I just wanted to fix it for you. You're a great partner."

She blushed when he said that. "You're so nice. Thank you, again. This means...so much to me."

"You're welcome."

They gazed into each other's eyes, both of them silent.

"Well...I guess I'll get going," he said, not taking his eyes off of hers.

"Okay. I'll see you Monday?" she replied, not taking her eyes off of his.

"Yeah, Monday."

He said he was leaving but he didn't make a move to leave whatsoever. Interestingly, he stepped closer to her.

"Have a nice weekend," he said to her, beginning to lean in.

She began to lean in too. "You too."

Just as their lips were about to touch, Anita's phone went off with a loud ding, interrupting them. They both laughed sheepishly. She moved away from him, took her phone out of the back pocket of her black skinny jeans and looked at the screen. It was her mom. She had just sent a message.

"I'm here!"

She found that strange. A drive from her home town to her college in Seattle was at the least three hours. It had only been about two.

"Sorry. It's my mom. She's picking me and a friend up to take us back home for the weekend."

"It's alright. No worries," said Caspian with a charming smile. "I'll see you later."

"See you later! And thanks again."

"No problem." With that, he left.

She closed her door and sighed with disappointment. She had been so close to kissing such a hot, sweet guy and then it was ruined. She hoped she would get the chance again.
