Anita woke from her deep slumber. The first thing she noticed was the horrendous headache she had. She opened her eyes and moaned. She felt hungover.
She was in a state of great confusion. She was having trouble remembering what caused her to fall asleep.
She noticed that she was laying on a table. It was cold. She attempted to sit up but was startled when she realized that her wrists and ankles were strapped down to the table with golden bands made of a thick fabric of some sort. She tried to get out of them but her muscles felt too weak. She could not do it.
She glanced around, taking in her surroundings. She was in a small room. It had extravagant details all over the stone ceiling and walls. Torches on the walls illuminated the room. The floors were golden. The aesthetic of it was very familiar. Like she had seen it before.
It suddenly hit her like a smack to the face. Asgard. She was in Asgard. Everything that she had forgotten came pouring back into her mind. The ball. Dancing with Loki. Being chased by him. Her car crashing and him drugging her with the darts. That explained her weak muscles.
She had to escape. She did not know where she would go once she did but she had to at least get out of the room she was currently in. She wriggled wildly, grunting as she did, desperate to break free.
"Please stop," said a soft voice.
Anita stopped and looked to her right, where the voice had came from. Someone was standing a few feet away from her. It was a girl. She looked nervous. One of her hands was behind her back and the other was by her side, in a fist. Anita recognized her. It was Loki's slave. What was her name again?
"Those restraints are made of a very durable Asgardian material. A Midgardian cannot break them," she said.
Anita looked at her desperately. "You have to get me out of here. Please...what's your name?"
"Nicole."
"Nicole," she repeated, "Please. I just want to go home."
She sighed. "I can't. Letting you go would be against Master's wishes. He would be furious."
"Please! This is wrong, you know this is wrong. You're Midgardian too, right? Then you know that what he wants to do with me is wrong! Slavery is wrong!"
"It is on Midgard but not here," she replied, taking a step forward.
"Oh god, please! I'm begging you. Please let me go. If you do, we can escape together. We can both go back to Midgard. I know you want to go back. I know you do."
Nicole appeared to be considering what she had said and, for a moment, it appeared as if Anita had convinced her. But then, she shook her head.
"No, I don't want to go back there. Midgard is terrible. Full of poverty, war, global warming and foolish people. I like it here, on Asgard."
Anita came to the conclusion that convincing Nicole to release her was out of the question. She was too brainwashed.
"Now...please stay still. I need to finish healing your injuries."
She approached the table and lifted up the hand by her side. Anita could now make out an object in her hand. It looked like a blue rock. She rubbed it against her bare lower right leg.
"I have almost completely repaired you. I just need to finish fixing your broken leg."
The way she spoke of her disturbed Anita. Repair her? What was she, a car?
After about a minute, Nicole stopped rubbing the rock against her leg and put it down on the table. "Can you move your leg around a bit? I know it's a bit difficult with the restraint on your ankle but I want to know if it is completely healed."
