Loki grabbed Anita from behind by both of her arms. He forced them behind her back and made her bend over the sink. He plugged up the drain using sorcery. The warm water began to fill up the white marble sink.

"How many times do I have to go over this with you, slave? No avoiding me," he growled into her ear.

"I wasn't avoiding you, Master! I had no choice. I-"

"You always have a choice."

"I had to come here or else Sophie would be mad at me."

"Who cares about if she is angry at you? She does not matter. The only one you need to please is me."

The sink was nearly overflowing. He shut it off.

"I'm sorry. Please, Master. Please understand."

He remained silent for a moment, seemingly thinking. Then, he sighed.

"No."

He grabbed her by her hair with one hand and forced her head under the water. She thrashed around wildly, desperate for a breath of air. He pressed himself against her, making it nearly impossible for her to escape his grasp. Just when she was about to breathe in, he lifted her head up. She gasped for air. Still holding her by her black hair, he forced her to look back at him.

"I am the only one that you need to please. No one else matters. Say it."

She did not say it. She was too busy trying to catch her breath and blink water out of her eyes. Taking this as her being defiant, he forced her head under the water again. Again, she fought his grasp. He held her with little effort. He watched with amusement as her small figure futilely tried to escape. Like a pest trying to escape from an inescapable trap. He cracked a smile.

He lifted her head up and once again forced her to look back at him.

"Say it."

"You are the only one that matters, Master! You are the only one that I want to please," she nearly shouted.

"No one else matters. Not Sophie. Not your mother. No one. Understand?"

She nodded but that is not the response he wanted. He forced her down so her face was just above the surface of the water.

"Speak."

"Yes! I understand!"

After a tense moment of silence, he let go of her. She stood up straight and turned around to face him, looking at him with wide eyes.

"I'm sorry. I should have told you today was a holiday. I don't know why I didn't."

"Just because it is a 'holiday' does not mean that you can skip our meetings. I will not cancel it just because of some day of festivities."

"Tomorrow is another holiday."

"Yes, I am aware. Christmas, is it? Nicole was quite fond of it when she lived here," he said, remembering the time he spent Christmas with Nicole at her aunt's house. "I suppose I will just come find you tomorrow when you are alone. But for now..." He took a closer to her. "How about you make up for the rendezvous you missed?"

She slowly nodded. "Okay. Yes, Master."

Anita had been in the bathroom for almost twenty minutes when Loki finally let her go. As she descended the wooden staircase that would take her downstairs, she adjusted her skirt and sweater, having gotten messed up from activities she had been participating in a few minutes ago.

When she got downstairs she could hear a commotion. It sounded like arguing between two women. She went to the dining room, where the arguing was coming from. When she entered, she was surprised to see Sophie arguing with her mother. She appeared to have tears running down her face. What had happened?

Sophie looked towards the entrance and saw Anita. She shot daggers at her with her wet eyes.

'Oh no,' thought Anita.

"Where have you been this whole time?!" demanded Sophie, marching over to her.

"I told you, I had to go to the bathroom," replied Anita, taken aback. She had never seen her this upset before.

"That's bullshit, I checked the bathroom and you weren't there!"

That confused her. It did not make any sense. Had Loki made an illusion so no one would catch her and him in the bathroom together?

"So where were you?"

Anita sighed. "I was in the bathroom, I swear."

"No, you left me! Again! What's going on? Are you on drugs?"

"No, I'm not on drugs!"

"Then what is going on with you? Why are you always disappearing?"

"Sophie...I can't...."

"You can't tell me?" she laughed sourly through her tears. "What kind of friend are you?"

"Sophie, calm down," said Sophie's mom, putting her hands on her shoulders. Sophie pushed them away.

"No! Friends are supposed to tell each other everything! Friends are supposed to be there for their friends. No matter what. But you are never there for me anymore. Never! You ditched me at the ball, you ditched me at the donut shop and you ditched me today during dinner, when that asshole proposed to my mom!"

"Sophie!" exclaimed her mother.

"Sophie, I can explain."

"I don't want to hear it. Fuck you," she spat. "Get out. Now."

"But-"

"Get out!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, startling Anita. Without another word, she left the room, went to the front door, took her coat and left.

Unbeknownst to her, Loki had been watching the entire ordeal play out. He was pleased that Sophie was angry at Anita. That meant she would not be in the way of his plans. For now.

As he was about to leave Sophie's house, something caught his eye. It was in the living room, sitting on the mantle of the fireplace. He picked it up and held it in both his hands. He observed it. It was delicate and beautiful. He took it.
