Nicole ambled down the busy stone roads of The City of Asgard. She was thrilled to be out of the castle. It was not often that Loki allowed her to leave. A couple of years ago, he would have never let her walk around on her own. At one point, she could not even leave her room. But by now, she had gained most of his trust. She was far more obedient. She rarely ever thought of trying to escape and when she did, she quickly pushed the thought away, having learned that doing so was futile and only led to great pain and suffering.

She was close to the shop that had the items Loki needed. She was happy that it was not too far away from the castle. When she walked too much, her injured left leg with the golden brace around it would start to bother her.

Almost at the shop, she passed by a business that sold horses. Each of them were in individual stalls, some eating, some sleeping and some just watching Asgardians walk by. She stopped and pet the head of a beautiful white horse that was staring at her. It neighed, delighted by her touch. She grinned. It felt a bit strange. She did not grin often. At least not genuinely.

The horse reminded her of her pet dog that she had when she was living in Midgard. Chester. The black Yorkshire Terrier she killed, believing sacrificing him would free her from her slavery. Her grin faded.

She continued walking. After a couple more minutes, she finally arrived at the small shop. She entered, pushing open a wooden door with a sign on it that read "open".

The inside of the shop was small. A chandelier hanging from the ceiling with candles lit on it illuminated the room. Around the perimeter of the room were clear shelves, each holding different items that were for sale. Books, little fancy bottles filled with liquids, jars full of what appeared to be plants and more.

In front of Nicole, a few meters away, an older looking woman sat at a clear desk, reading a brown book. Nicole approached her. When she was at the desk, the woman looked up at her.

"Can I help you?" she asked, impudence masked in her voice.

"Yes. I uh..." she paused and removed the list Loki had given her from down the front of her dress. "The king asked me to get these items for him. I'm his...uh...servant."

She handed the list to the woman. The woman took it, appearing slightly disgusted touching the paper that had just been touching Nicole's bosom.

She looked it over. "I see." The woman stood up from her wooden chair. "Stay here. I will get them for you from the back."

Behind her was a door. She opened it and went into a dim room, closing the door behind her.

Nicole stood still, looking around the room. Suddenly, something caught her eye. The books on the shelf. Spell books.

She listened to see if the woman was returning. She heard no sign that she was. She walked over to the books as speedily and silently as possible. When she reached the books, she read through the titles on the sides.

Nicole had become quite intrigued with sorcery ever since she started living in Asgard. She found it cool. Watching Loki do it had sparked an interest in her. Although she had attempted to do it before in the past, she usually could not get anything to happen. It was not easy to do. But she wanted to try it again. Before she could do that though, she needed a spell book.

Her eyes darted around the room and she glanced at a small window by the exit to make sure she was not being watched. She was aware that Asgardian guards watched her when she was out to make sure she stayed in her place.

With the coast being clear, she picked out a small, thin book titled "Sorcery For Novices". She opened it and flipped through the pages. Almost immediately, she found a spell that she wanted to try.
