Nicole walked over to Anita. She was an utter mess. The area around her eyes was beginning to swell. Her bottom lip was busted and bleeding. On top of that, one of her arms was bent in a strange way, leading Nicole to believe that it was broken. She sighed and knelt down beside the girl. Her eyes were closed but she was clearly still awake, sobbing and trembling, curled up in a ball. Blood was dripping out of her mouth onto the clean floors. Nicole placed a hand on her shoulder.
"You really need to listen to him, Anita."
She did not reply.
'Maybe I should heal her first. She definitely won't be able to carry a conversation well in her current state,' thought Nicole.
She stood up and hurried over to a table beside Loki's bed. On it was various healing stones of different shapes, colors and sizes. She grabbed a circular purple one that was about the size of her palm and went back to Anita. She knelt down again and began to heal her. She hoped that Loki would not be upset that she had done so.
When she finished healing her injuries, she looked at her face. It was still soaked in tears but she was no longer crying. She just whimpered.
"Anita? Anita, please sit up. Everything is okay right now. It's just you and me in here."
"No," snapped Anita. "Leave me alone."
Nicole sighed. "This is exactly what I'm talking about. Anita, please. I am only trying to help you. Sit up. If you don't, I will have to force you."
Anita was not intimidated. Nicole did not have a weapon like last time they were alone. What could she do to her?
"I'm trying to help you. Sit up."
"No. Go away."
Nicole rolled her eyes. She was not going to hurt her. She did not want to force her up but she did not have much of a choice. She did not have much time until Loki would return. She grabbed Anita by her shoulders and forced her to sit up. Anita was caught off guard by her sudden aggression. She looked at her slightly fearfully.
"There. Now, how do you feel? Does anything else still hurt?"
"N-No," replied Anita.
After a moment, Nicole sighed. "Great. Now we can talk." Nicole stood up. "Look, you really need to stop upsetting Loki. You need to do everything that you can to please him. Even if it makes you uncomfortable."
"I'm not doing it on purpose. I genuinely lost track of time which is why I was late to our last meeting."
"Well you need to be more careful. Pay attention more. Do you like being punished by him?"
"No. Not at all."
"Exactly. So do what he wants. And as for that boy..."
Nicole was remembering something that began to bring her immense distress. She felt a knot forming deep in her stomach.
"If you know what's good for him, you will cut off all forms of communication with him."
"I...I...I can't. I like him. A lot. He's the only one I have right now besides my mom. And I barely see her since I'm in college."
"Look, I understand that. But you can not be associated with him. I'm going to be frank with you. Loki will kill him if you continue messing around with him. Do you want to know what he did to my boyfriend when I was his slave?"
Anita was listening closely.
"He tortured him. In one of the worst possible ways. And then, he killed him. The worst part is, he didn't even kill him himself. He put me under some kind of trance and made me kill him. I didn't know what had happened until after it was done, when he snapped me out of it."
Tears were filling Nicole's eyes. A few fell down her face. She wiped them away quickly.
"Is that what you want to happen to him? Is it?"
Anita slowly shook her head.
"If you really care about him, you will stay away from him. Understand?"
"...Yes."
"Good. I hope you really do understand."
The door to the room opened. Loki entered, a golden cup in his hand.
"Did she listen to you or am I going to have to brutalize her some more?" he asked, walking over to them.
Nicole shook her head vigorously. "No, she listened."
"Yeah, I listened," replied Anita. "I'm so sorry, Master. I will be on time from now on for our meetings. And I will stay away from Caspian."
Loki grinned. It went away quickly though as he noticed Nicole's slightly puffy and wet face.
"What is the matter, my dear?"
"Nothing. I'm fine."
He chuckled. "I can tell when you have been crying. What happened? Do I need to punish the slave further?"
"No!" Nicole nearly shouted. "No, I'm just...I was just telling her about what happened with the boy I used to be involved with. What you did to him. Eli." Saying his name pained her.
"Ah yes. Such a foolish urchin."
He set his cup down on the floor and then wrapped his arms around Nicole. The tears she had been trying to hold back came out. She broke down in his arms.
"It's alright, my dear. That happened a long time ago. He did not mean anything to you. The feelings you felt were nothing but physical. Do not think about him anymore. He is gone. Forever." He gave her a kiss on her forehead. "I appreciate you sharing that with the slave. Hopefully she will heed your advice."
He let go of her and looked down at Anita, a blank look on his face.
"I see you healed her. I wish you did not. I wanted her to suffer for longer. What a pity. Oh well. I will send her back to Midgard now. I am far too angry and disgusted with her at the moment to want to engage in anything with her."
He grabbed her by her arm and hauled her to her feet.
"We will meet at our usual time tomorrow. No earlier and no later. Additionally, you will stay away from that fool. Or I will punish you far worse than I did today. Understand?"
Anita nodded quickly.
"Good."
With that, he sent her back. When she was gone, he turned back to Nicole.
"Now...how about you do what you said you would do if I let you talk to the slave..."
Nicole had forgotten about that. She was not in the mood to do it anymore after talking about Eli. However, she had to. Otherwise, he would be upset.
"Of course, Loki."
