Anita sat in the bathtub in her bathroom, crying. Her knees were to her chest and her arms were wrapped around her legs. The water she sat in was warm. The only light in the room came from candles she had sat around the tub. Her eyes were closed. She was in deep thought. This was going to be her last night on Earth. Tomorrow night, she would be in a completely different realm and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
After about an hour, she got out of the tub and put on a pair of dark grey sweats with a white long sleeve top. She went to her room. She had not talked to her mother the night before and did not want to, still upset with her.
She got on her bed, laid down on her back and stared up at the ceiling. She stayed like that for a while, thinking about everything she had been through the past three days. It had been a disaster. Like a nightmare.
She was going to miss her bed. Her room. The safeness and coziness of it.
She picked up her phone that sat on her nightstand and unlocked it. She had an urge. There was something she wanted to see. She went to her photo album and began to scroll up, back a few years ago when her father was still alive. She stopped when she came across pictures of him. Pictures of him when her and her mother had been on vacation with him. Pictures of them spending the day together. At the mall. At a restaurant. Silly selfies along with more serious portraits. She smiled weakly. Tears were streaming down her face.
How had everything gone so terribly wrong so fast? In a few years, everything had taken a turn for the worst.
She put her phone down and wiped her wet face. She could not stand looking at the pictures anymore. She closed her eyes and struggled to go to sleep.

Nicole was in her chambers, practicing magic again. The last time she went into town, she went to a book store and had skimmed through a book that explained magic better. Specifically, the kind of magic used often in Asgard. Basically, it involved manipulating the energy inside her to do whatever she wanted. It was a little trickier than the other type of magic she had done before because it required more focus, which was a bit hard for her considering how scatterbrained she could be. She had to focus so she could sense the energy inside her. Feel it. Then, imagine what she wanted to do with it. It was a challenge. However, according to the small blue sphere of energy that was beginning to take form in her hands, her focus was improving.
Honestly, she was not entirely sure why she was trying to learn magic. She wanted to believe it was for fun but a part of her felt like it was for something else. For self defense. For protecting herself.
Protecting herself...from Loki?
She was still iffy about her feelings for him. To be perfectly honest, part of her had genuinely began to care about him. However, another part of her hated him for all the horrors he had put her through over the past few years. She could not forget or forgive the evils he had done. No matter what he did or said to her. She could not allow him to brainwash her.
This would be her protection if things turned sour.
The door to her room opened suddenly. She ceased what she was doing immediately and silenced her thoughts. She stood with her hands behind her back.
Loki entered the room, with a smile on his face. "Hello, my lovely Nicole." He made his way over to her.
"My, you look happy. What happened?"
He put one hand on her waist and took her hand with the other. "Dance with me."
He conjured up a violin and a wind instrument that resembled a flute. The two began to play a lovely melody while floating in midair. He began to move to the music. She put a hand on his shoulder and followed his lead, giggling in confusion.
