"What if he never remembers?" Phil asked brokenly. Techno sighed and pulled him along. They were headed to the marketplace for supplies while Tommy stayed at home resting, and Phil couldn't stop worrying about him.

They needed to go, though, because they hadn't been to the market since they had found Tommy; they were too busy worrying over the comatose boy for the past month. Now, they were short on a few things, and Techno missed talking to people other than Phil, not that he would ever admit it.

"Phil, everything's gonna be fine. We'll get this figured out." Even as Techno said this, he had his doubts, but he reminded himself it was what Phil needed to hear. The Brit nodded, took a shaky breath in, and wiped his teary eyes.

"You're right. Of course you're right." Phil pulled himself together. "Let's get the supplies and get out of here." They walked for a few more minutes before they were interrupted again.

"Hello, Phil! Hi, Techno." A certain enderman called out to them. Techno nodded in acknowledgement, and Phil waved. Ranboo walked over to chat with them. He almost immediately noticed the tear tracks on Phil's face and his shaky demeanor. He looked at Phil with concern and asked, "What's wrong?"

Phil turned to Techno who nodded at him slightly. They could trust Ranboo. "Tommy..." he started.

"Oh, I'm sorry for your loss. I heard what happened." Ranboo hugged Phil. Techno stared at him with confusion.

"What? No, he's not dead. He's back at our cabin. He fell off a cliff and almost died, but he's still breathing. Can't remember a damn thing, though." Ranboo gasped. Techno continued on with a newfound seriousness in his voice. "Listen, Ranboo. You can't tell anyone about this."

Ranboo nodded solemnly, but Techno knew the boy wouldn't keep this from Tubbo. Techno didn't trust Tubbo. He'd betrayed Tommy too many times for Techno's liking, but if Memory Boy trusted him...

No. Techno wasn't going to tell Tubbo, and he hoped Ranboo wouldn't either. That being said, the enderman ran off, probably to bring good news of great joy to one small bee boy. Technoblade hoped he hadn't just made a mistake. He sighed once more.

Phil and Techno finally made it to the market. They bought some food from Fundy and Niki's bakery, some potions from Sam, and medical supplies from Captain Puffy. The trip didn't last long, but Phil was still anxious to return home. They were about to do so when someone called Techno's name. He turned around.

"Techno!" Tubbo called again. He ran to catch them. He approached the two Sleepy Bois with hope in his eyes. "Is it true? Is Tommy alive?" Philza stared at him and debated with himself for a minute. He opened his mouth to answer when Technoblade put his hand on the man's shoulder.

"No." Techno's tone was harsh. The lie slipped out easily and left no room for arguments. Tubbo put his hand over his mouth and choked back a sob. He looked as if someone had slapped him.

"Surely not," he cried. "Surely not. This is all my fault." Tubbo, hope crushed, ran away from the men with tears streaming down his face.

Techno frowned. He almost felt guilty; he remembered how it felt when he had found Tommy half dead with little chance of survival. Tubbo and Tommy were even closer than he was. This had to be crushing the boy. He squared his shoulders and reminded himself that he needed to protect Tommy above all else. Even if it meant hurting Tubbo in the process.

Philza searched Techno's face for any clue to his plans. "The less people that know, the better. Come on, Phil. We've got to get home." Phil flew Techno home. It was faster than walking, and he was nervous about leaving Tommy alone and defenseless for so long.

Upon arriving at the house, he set Techno down in the snow. A scream made them drop their things and run inside.

"Tommy?" Phil shrieked and sprinted into the room. Ghostbur was in front of Tommy's bed, and Tommy was shrunk in a corner. Tommy's eyes were glazed over, and his breathing was heavy. "Toms?" He approached Tommy slowly. Tommy backed away like a hurt animal. Phil wrapped his arms around him. Techno stood in the doorway, feeling conflicted. Ghostbur hadn't moved.

"Don't hurt me," Tommy rasped. He fought against Phil's touch. Techno walked over and sat down on the bed. Phil nodded at him. Ghostbur floated over quietly.

Phil hugged Tommy tighter and said, "Toms, it's me, your dad. I'm not gonna hurt you. You're safe. I promise you're safe."

Tommy shook his head and muttered under his breath. "I'm sorry. Don't hurt me. Please." Tommy's voice cracked. Techno scooted over to hug Phil and Tommy. The boy started to calm down, having recognized he was okay.

Phil and Techno held Tommy until his tears stopped, and even then they didn't let go. The younger blond stopped fighting the comfort and laid his head on Phil's shoulder. He fell asleep. His steady breathing reassured Techno that he was okay.

They turned their attention to Ghostbur. He looked helpless. "I didn't mean for this to happen!" the ghost fretted. "I came to check on Tommy since I hadn't seen him since, you know, the ravine."

Ghostbur had been the one to drag a half-asleep Phil and an irritated Technoblade to Tommy. They hadn't been thrilled that he was bothering them until they learned why, but once they found Tommy in that ravine, they couldn't focus on anything but healing him. They had forgotten to apologize. Ghostbur had been scared off by their attitude towards him, so he held off on visiting- until now.

"It's okay, Ghostbur." Phil comforted the ghost as best he could. "Tommy'll be alright, but, uh, he can't remember anything. I think seeing you may have triggered some unwanted flashbacks." Ghostbur looked at the boy sleeping in their father's arms.

Tommy had been through so much, and he wasn't even seventeen. Maybe losing his memory was for the best. Sure, he'd remember eventually, but until then, they had time to mend their relationships and create happy memories to drown out the old, terrible ones. Right?
