In your world of play pretend.
The type you'd view as a muppet,
Ah yes,
but the irony makes sense.
For you will not pull my strings,
And toss me around like you're the king,
Throwing and punching and hurting and foolingNo,
I will not be that sort of thing.
I will not be your rag doll you damn fool
In your world of controlling and play pretend.
For one day I will get up
Get ready
And get dressed
Just to pack up my bags. And I shall cut off the "hold-me-back" strings
And walk out of this insanity
As a human,
Not as some sort of rag.
Because I am more than just your shadow,
More than what you'd expect.
