The darkness would
Fill me with fear
Almost every single night
For I would toss and turn around
And pull up my blanket
To shield my eyes
Worried that
The monsters in my nightmares
Would come out to biteFor the books about shadows
And Halloween nights
Have begun to put fear into me
And I would break out
In a sweat
Whenever darkness
Would fall upon the skyLittle did I know
It was just the beginning
Of me fearing something
Other than mere darkness
Other than the mere changing of colours
Of day to night
