Every single time
My eyes meet mine
They can't seem to help themselves
For they just start to analyse
Bullying the already
Beaten down girl
Who is barely even standing
Standing straight up, uprightBut every single time
My eyes meet mine
To criticise the parts
Of which she doesn't like
I will tell myself
That this sacred body of mine
Is not to be fixated on
By all the judging eyes
For I am not a statue
Or a trophy
To try and remain so highly polished
And so impossibly shinyAs this body of mine
Is not for someone else
And especially for myself
To simply walk on by
To always pick apart and criticise
For I am much,
Much more
Than just a number
Or a sizeAnd so I shall smile
And finally at least try
To speak words of kind
To the girl in the mirror
Silently whispering to her
That she is a lot more
Than just her figure
