When you got your wings too soon
There were no words left to utter—
I only wanted to stretch out my arms,
Lift up my hands,
Gesture half-pleading—
Half-lost—
Because there are no words left to express
The unshed tears
Which can still be felt
Settling down somewhere—
Carving out a home
Deep into my heart—And when you got your wings too soon
It made me wistfully wonder
If the weight of the world was always felt,
Burdening your shoulders—
And it made me want
To ask the wind,
"Why?
Why her?—
Why him?"—
But then again,
I know the breeze would only whisper into my ear
And reply,
"Why not?—
Would you want this to be granted
Upon anybody else?"—And when you got your wings too soon
It was only then I realised
That the world
Can be cruel—
Cruel enough to whisk away
The hopes and dreams of someone so young—
Someone
Who had their life
So very unfairly
Cut short. And when you got your wings too soon
It finally dawned upon me—
Oh, how much I miss your presence
And all those times
Where we would sit together
In the comforting silence—
All those moments where I,
In a way,
Took for granted—And when you got your wings too soon
I knew
There was no turning back time—
So I truly hope
You feel happier now—
Because all I ever wanted
Was for you to feel
Everlasting joy—So I hope you're flying high,
Spreading your wings,
And soaring through the sky,
Where you're free of earthly pains—
And I hope,
Oh,
I truly hope,
That you have been greeted kindly
With Peace and Freedom and Happiness
Being granted to you
For Eternity—
