Pink and blue
Were the colours
Associated with gender
And as strange as it was
That was the way things wereFor whenever I would tell someone
Blue was my favourite colour
They would look at me in disgust
Eyes full of horror
As though they had seen something
That will be of incredible botherAnd from that day on
For the many years to come
I would lie to my peers
And pretend that blue was of a shade
The devils had made
For boys had to like blue
And girls had to like pink;
That was the way things were
With nobody questioning
About how it was just
So incredibly strange
