Details: The first male witch encountered by The Charmed Ones, or more specifically, by Prue Halliwell. Max gained his power after the death of his mother, Paulette, who was also a witch. Neither Max nor his father, Gordon, had any idea that his mother was magical and Gordon forbade Max from using his powers in public. Max felt that his father hated him because of his powers and witch heritage.
Max was kidnapped by two thugs, Mickey and David who were wanted Max to use his powers to open a bank vault so they could rob it. Mickey threatened to kill Max if Gordon went to to the authorities.
Max reached out with his power which affected the spirit board in the Manor, alerting Prue to his distress. Max's second message on the spirit board sent her to the auto shop where Max was being held. She tried to free him but was knocked out by one of the thugs.

When Prue came to, she found herself bound beside Max, who was now fitted with an explosive device to keep Prue from using her powers. As they were all about to leave for the bank Gordon showed up to beg for Max's release, but was shot by one of the thugs instead and left to die.
Prue and Max were forced to use their powers to help the thugs rob the bank, but with Prue's encouragement Max was able to short out the explosive strapped to him with his powers.

Prue then telekinetically apprehended the thugs, locking them inside the vault for the police to find. She and Max rushed back to the auto shop to help his father.
Gordon was on the verge of death and see a blinding white light appear. At first he had hoped it was his wife but it soon took on the form of Leo Wyatt, a whitelighter. Leo healed Gordon's gunshot wound and then urged him to continue to raise Max well and forego his prejudice.

Leo orbed out just as Prue and Max arrived and father and son were reunited. Gordon and Max took Prue to visit Paulette's grave where Gordon asked for forgiveness and assured Max of just how much he loved him and always would.
