the lord of war

Type:                      empowered mortal

Weapon/s:           crystal sword

Powers:                none

Details:                 A disgraced Lord of War, Gabriel Statler had come to San Francisco with one objective — to kill Prue Halliwell and regain his honour.

After presumably instigating the Crimean Wars,  Gabriel lead an unstoppable army in a bloody campaign of death and destruction. He was opposed by an ancestor of The Charmed Ones, a Warren witch named Brianna who possessed an advanced form of telekinesis.

Brianna rendered Gabriel powerless by sending the source of his power, his crystal sword, hundreds of miles away with her magic. Defeated and gravely disgraced by the solitary witch, Gabriel died knowing he would have to regain his honour upon his reincarnation.

And so centuries later, he came to San Francisco seeking to do just that. First he killed a bad-tempered boxer in order to absorb his killer instinct, which is one of the qualities Gabriel needed to regain his honour. The other was the magic of a firstborn witch since they're the strongest.

Gabriel then set his sights on the eldest Charmed One. Fortunately, Phoebe received a chilling premonition that forewarned of Prue's death by Gabriel's hand, although this still didn't deter the eldest Halliwell from going in to work the next day.

There she had a meeting with a wealthy new client named Helena Statler,  unaware that she was Gabriel's sister

There she had a meeting with a wealthy new client named Helena Statler,  unaware that she was Gabriel's sister. Helena lured Prue to a warehouse and tricked her into a device that restrained her hands. Gabriel then walked in and formally introduced himself before attempted to kill Prue.

Whether he knew of Prue's Charmed status is unclear, but he was definitely aware that Prue was a descendant of the witch who'd humiliated him, and as such he'd prepared for Prue to wield her magic in much the same way; by channeling it through her hands

Luckily for Prue, she was still channeling her power through her eyes and so she was able to incapacitate Helena, free herself and stall Gabriel (albeit momentarily) with an axe to the chest before escaping.

Gabriel and Helena continued to plot Prue's demise and this time attacked her in the Buckland's parking lot, stunning her with a flash grenade so that she was temporarily blinded and unable to use her power.

Gabriel then ran her through with his blade and waited patiently for the magic that never came. Incensed, he realised too late that the woman he'd killed was not the real Prue Halliwell but a clone

Not long after, as Gabriel prepared for his next attack, he heard Helena calling for him from one of the rooms in their mansion

Not long after, as Gabriel prepared for his next attack, he heard Helena calling for him from one of the rooms in their mansion. Upon entering, Gabriel was met with the startling scene of Helena trapped within a medieval torture device. The last surviving Prue clone then emerged from the shadows and offered the Lord of War an exchange —  his sword for his sister.

Gabriel quickly realised that the real Prue would not be foolish enough to confront him in his own house and though he loved Helena dearly, his honour was more important

Gabriel quickly realised that the real Prue would not be foolish enough to confront him in his own house and though he loved Helena dearly, his honour was more important. Gabriel impaled Helena with his blade, killing her, before killing the clone as well.

He then made his final assault on the Manor in the early hours of the following day, tossing in another flash grenade before crashing through the solarium's windows. He chased Prue into the sitting room and accidentally lodged his sword into Phoebe's training dummy.

Gabriel wasn't prepared for Phoebe Halliwell, who caught him by surprise with a jump kick to the face that knocked him into some shelves. He called for his weapon but Prue used her power to rotate it in midair and Gabriel accidentally impaled himself. Both he and the blade disintegrated into nothingness.
