Details: A 17th Century warlock who made the mistake of bedding the powerful good witch Melinda Warren, and then betraying her. As her revenge Melinda cursed Matthew into a locket for all eternity, until he was unintentionally released by Prue Halliwell, a direct descendant of Melinda's and therefore the only person able to reopen the locket once again.
After Prue telekinetically threw him across the room Matthew was able to copy her power and used it against her before escaping.

Matthew then went on a killing spree, using his new power to murder anyone with the last name of Halliwell in hopes of eradicating all Melinda's descendants so as to prevent them from cursing him again.
He was approached by two devious warlocks named Rex and Hannah who told him of Prue and her sisters Piper and Phoebe and together they set him on the right path to achieve his murderous goals.
Matthew was able to confront Phoebe at the restaurant Quake, where Piper worked. He cornered her in the kitchen when they were alone and grabbed hold of her, triggering a premonition and copying her power.

Through Phoebe's power he learned that the sisters had brought Melinda back from the dead to help curse him again, but he was not worried in the least and went to the Manor to confront Melinda, hoping to copy her powers once again and ultimately be too powerful for the Charmed Ones to face.
Melinda refused to use her powers and Matthew received a premonition off of her, seeing the Charmed Ones and Melinda preparing the curse to use on Matthew. He demanded to know where Prue had gone to retrieve the owl feather and Melinda lied, saying she had gone to the zoo. Matthew promised to kill her there, then return to kill the other two sisters so that Melinda could watch them die and so that he could watch her suffer, before her would then kill her.
Rex and Hannah once again assisted Matthew by giving him a gun and sending him back to the Manor to finish the sisters. He held Piper at gunpoint, demanding that she use her powers but she refused. Prue returned with the feather and used her powers to disarm Matthew.

The three sisters then acted quickly, mixing the ingredients and preparing the potion that accompanied the curse. When Matthew got to his feet to stop them, Piper froze him where he stood as her sisters completed the preparation, dropping the bag into the fire.

The potion pot bubbled with otherworldly smoke, signifying that the curse was ready. Melinda then took the locket in her hands and held it open towards Matthew, her face set with determination.
She recited the curse with a resolute tenacity in her voice. Matthew unfroze immediately, surrounded by a supernatural whirlwind that began to drag him towards against his will. His final words were an assurance that this was not the end before he was drawn into the locket like a genie returning to his lamp.

The locket snapped shut once Matthew was trapped within it, locking him inside forever.
