Heya, requested by Misty1chan! Thanks for the awesome request, I wouldn't have made it myself!
I now have proclaimed this the Romance In Death AU because damn that sounds like a good name.
Grian had often felt left out on hermitcraft.
Unsurprisingly, he was the only polyamourus on the server, something he had expected and planned for.
However, what was surprising, was that he was the only gay guy on the server. False was a lesbian so the two often chatted when they could, but that wasn't often.
Plus, he had branded himself early on ad the prankster and child of the group, meaning more serious matters often didn't include him.
What really got him was the fact that nobody seemed to understand him. He was a man-child, sure, but that didn't mean he couldn't be taken seriously. Whenever he started to take charge in anything more serious than a joke, people after surprised and he was often forgotten in favour for Xisuma or Iskall.
And for gods sake he was in a relationship, just because he was gay didn't mean he wanted to get with the others!
But Grian was to much of a cinnamon roll to tell them the truth, that he didn't feel welcome in their community. Not to the extent he'd like, at least.
On March 4th, 2020, Grian joined the DreamSMP with his two partners for a quick tour. And god, he felt as if he'd just stepped into a complete opposites situation. Everyone had bold and brash personalities (just like him!), and all they did was make him feel welcome, feel like he was part of something.
It was just like Evo.
Even after that, it didn't just become the simple issue of telling the others he wanted to leave, it became the issue of leaving. Hermitcraft had made it pretty clear it did not like members leaving, especially not members as popular as Grian. Maybe if he'd had a couple hundred thousand viewers, he could've done it without any trouble, but he had seven million, and that was a little more than a couple thousand.
The other problem with leaving was that he needed admin permission to officially leave a server. That rule had been implemented to stop the spread of illegal server's, and it'd worked. He'd either need to file for a server withdrawal or have Xisuma withdraw him manually.
Withdrawal requests were public information. The minute Grian put a withdrawal in, the public would know and, by default, so would hermitcraft. Immediate backlash and termination of the request.
The other way to get out of a server?
If you died, or were reported dead, you were automatically withdrawn from the server as not to take up data space and so the server was less likely to get hacked or for data mining to take place.
God Grian just wanted to get out of there, and fast. But he didn't want to die. So that left one option.
He had to be reported dead.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
It had been set up by Saturday.
The first time Grian had come to Techno and Dream with the solution, it was four in the morning on a cold autumn night.
He'd basically forced open the first door, barely bothering with keys as he woke up the household (aka Dream).
He dashed into the trio's shared bedroom, dragging the duo out of bed and into the lounge.
"I have to explain something," He'd said. "It's urgent." He'd said.
And they'd looked at him skeptically and sat down.
God had it been the most insane thing Dream had ever heard.
It would take place on March 31st, the last day of March, to signify the end. A suicide notes was drafted up, and Techno would discover the 'body'. Xisuma would discover the note near minutes after, detailing how he felt he didn't belong in the server and why he wouldn't be able to join them for another season.
Distraught, they speculated Xisuma would send a message to the group chat of Hermitcraft that Dream and Techno happened to be a part of. Just as he opened the group chat, Dream would ask if anyone had seen Grian. Techno would then respond that he was dead, and then Dream would go offline and wouldn't log back in. Hopefully, Xisuma would share what he'd found and then Grian would be reported dead.
If it worked out as planned, then Grian would join the SMP on February 15th, the day the new arc started. He would be the spy in the new plotline, never showing his face or voice, just an essential plot character that they could safely introduce in the darkness.
And, the plan worked.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
When Dream said worked, he meant barely.
Xisuma was the first one to stumble on the suicide, it was simply the fact that he was not alone that was the problem.
Xisuma, going on his usual morning walk, had met up with Iskall and the duo had gone together. They'd found the note and Iskall took to spamming Grian before Xisuma could inform the rest of the server.
Meaning the 'suicide' part of the death came out twenty-four minutes later than planned, and for a good twenty-four minutes, they suspected Techno a murderer. Dream would've convinced them otherwise but he was meant to be to distraught.
Luckily, Xisuma had come to the rescue just In time with a simple "there was a note"
Everything went downhill from there.
Seven people had already named Techno a suspect, and the others reported his death a suicide. They ended up having to attend court to settle the details.
The arc was pushed back to the 20th, and so was Grian's entrance.
But god it was worth it. In Grian's eyes, it would always be worth it.
Because now there was Tommy, now there was Dream, now there was Wilbur, now there was Techno.
And damn him if he ever forgot the choice he had to make, between the seven million limelight or everyone else.
Because if he went back?
He wouldn't change a thing.
Woooo 1:00am pog.
Seriously though, 1034 words! Can you believe it!?
Anyway, hanks for reading!
