WITCH ISLAND

...🛶...

HEATHER had never been more thankful for her brother than when he got her and their friends out of doing a paper on The Crucible for Principal Green's class by enlisting their help to take part in his documentary about the hypocrisy and religious persecution that condemned 13 young women (and suspected witches) to Witch Island, where they inevitably perished in a tragic fire.

"I gotta say, Blair Witch didn't do it for me." Jen mused to the group as they walked through the halls of Capeside High "I wasn't remotely scared, that girl was irritating beyond measure, and I had to run to the snack bar in dire need of Dramamine."

"I was scared." Joey admitted with a shrug.

Heather snorted, nudging her best friend with a teasing smile "No surprise there, Jo."

"I thought Blair Witch was groundbreaking." Dawson mused "Hollywood laid to waste by a couple guys with a camcorder. How cool is that?"

"Frankly, I think my father makes scarier movies with his home video camera." Pacey shook his head "You guys want scary? Check out the Witter family Christmas Project. Guaranteed to make your teeth chatter."

Jen sighed "Before we're off to see the witch, I'd like to opine that there are no such thing as witches."

"You do remember Abby Morgan right?" Heather smirked making the group laugh.

"I say 'witch' is just a buzz word for a girl who happened to follow her completely healthy, totally natural urges and explore her sexuality."

Heather smiled at Jen's words "Sounds like me."

"And you'd have been burned at the stake for it in the swingin' 60's." Jen pointed out.

"Cheerful."

Jen gave them a little salute "I'll catch you guys later."

"Okay, I think it's time for me to set up for some interviews. Joey?" Dawson turned to the Potter girl "Would you like to lend me a hand?"

"Sure."

Dawson glanced to his sister and Pacey "You guys rustle up some interviewees."

"Ja wohl, herr director." Pacey nodded "Have fun kids." The pair watched the ex-couple head off together, side-by-side "Now doesn't that just warm your heart? Kevin and Winnie taking those first tentative steps back to the wonder years."
