NO GOODBYE'S

...🛶...

HEATHER supported her brother in all his dreams and ambitions through filmmaking, but as Dawson pestered her to be the focus of his film final, she was just about done "—And it'll be this raw, heart wrenching piece on the girl who survived a serial killer and came out in the same year."

The Leery girl snapped her head around from her locker, cutting her brother with her glare "Don't you think I have to relive that enough without it being captured on film for the Capeside limelight?"

"W-well, I mean it could be therapeutic in a way—"

"That's what my therapist is for." Heather deadpanned before sighing as she shut her locker door "I'm sorry, Dawson. You're just gonna have to find someone else." Heather walked away from her despondent brother, eyes widening as Andie rushed toward her in a frenzy "Hey, Andie, what's wrong? You weren't in class this morning."

"Yeah, uh, my dad came back into town and he's gonna make us go home." Andie scratched at the back of her head, eyebrow's drawn in worry "He's taking us back to Providence."

The Leery girl's heart dropped "What?"

"He wants me to get help. He wants us to he a family again, but he's been absent for over a year and now that I'm finally starting to make a life for myself here, he just wants to wrench me away." Andie ranted "Oh God, I just— he makes me so angry."

"Okay, listen, we'll figure it out." Heather placed her hands on Andie's shoulders "I mean, what do you want to do?"

The McPhee girl breathed out "Heather, I want to stay here, get help here. I... I want to be with you."

Heather smiled softly "Then we'll fight him on this."

Andie frowned "He wants to leave tomorrow, Heather."

...🛶...

HEATHER had cut the rest of school in order to go back to the McPhee house with Andie in the hopes of getting through to her father. Jack and his sister watched anxiously as Heather followed Mr. McPhee around the ground floor "Sir, you can't take Andie away now. Not from her friends, I mean, she has a whole support system here."

"But I'm not here."

"And you haven't been." Heather shot back and the man stilled "This entire time."

Mr. McPhee turned to her, finger outstretched as his nostrils flared "Now wait just a minute young lady, I don't know who you think you are—"
