THE BREAKFAST CLUB

...🛶...

HISTORY was the last place Heather wanted to be first thing that Friday morning considering it was a class she shared with Grant. But the Leery girl pushed her feelings aside to focus her undivided attention on Joey's oral report.

"--The Shoguns in the Tokugawa era delegated church from state, and the Oko was—"

The Potter girl was cut off by the classroom door bursting open, a flustered Abby Morgan strolling in "Sorry, I'm late, Mr. Douglas. My car broke down— sorry." She gave a faux, sheepish smile to Joey "I am so sorry."

Joey rolled her eyes as Abby slipped into her seat "Anyway, the Oko was where the Shogun kept his harem. It housed 600 women, all in service to one man. Since—"

"What?" Grant cut the girl off in shock "Whoa! 600!"

"Anyway, since the emperor was in Kyoto, that meant—"

Grant raised his hand, once again cutting Joey off "I have a question. Did you say that 600 chicks were all in service to just one dude?"

Joey rolled her eyes "Well, I didn't say 'chicks' but yes."

"Does this mean sexual service?" Grant smirked making the class snicker except for Heather who rolled her own eyes.

As Mr. Douglas quieted down the class, Joey looked to Grant "Yes. Each night the Shogun choose one from hundreds of concubines."

"No way that's intense!" Grant shared a high five with his Neanderthal friends.

Joey sighed "Anyway, as I was saying, since the emperor was in Kyoto, that—"

Heather watched as Grant raised his hand once again and snapped his fingers "Hello. Over here."

The Leery girl scoffed "Can you stop?"

He leant across the aisle with a smirk "Are you gonna make me, babe?"

"I'm not your babe anymore, remember?" She snarled.

Abby's eyes lit up as the class gushed at the new gossip "Since when?"

"You know, I'll take questions after the presentation, Grant." Joey ground out in frustration and as a method to distract the attention on her best friend.

Grant smirked "Right. Now, did these concubines did they have to doink the Shogun? Or could they say like 'no dice.'?"

"Well, it was a great privilege to be chosen by the Shogun."
