SEEING RED

...🛶...

DAWSON walked through his house, following the sounds of slamming cabinets until he found his sister in the kitchen and the boy leant against the doorway "I'm sorry that happened to you today. I don't like seeing you like this."

"Like what?" Heather retorted, shoving the box of pop tarts back into the cupboard "Pissed off?"

"Dejected, depressed, demoralised." He listed with a frowned.

Heather spun to face him "That's life Dawson. You can't control it and you certainly can't stop it."

"Paint it again."

Her eyebrows furrowed "What?

"Your mural." He stepped forward "Do it tonight. Surprise that bastard when he shows up tomorrow morning."

"It took me an entire month to conceive, project it and paint it." She shook her head "You can't expect me to do it all over again in one night."

He shrugged "Why not?"

"For the same reason you haven't shot a roll of film since January." She shot back.

Dawson shook his head "Heather, that's completely different."

"Really?" She scoffed "So someone didn't crap all over your project and make you rethink your entire life's passion?"

"That's not why I stopped." He denied "It was a personal decision."

"Well, me giving up?" She looked to him on her way out of the kitchen "That's my personal decision."

UNBEKNOWNST to Heather, Pacey had done a little digging on the culprit and all fingers pointed in Matt Caufield's direction. And when he first confronted the boy, the smug pride of his vandalism reeked all over him.

Heather was making her way out of the school the next day when she watched a crowd form and frowned before pushing through to the front just as Pacey pushed Matt up against his expensive car by the scruff of his jacket "Pacey!"

"What the hell do you want?" Matt sneered.

"You know exactly what I want."

Matt smirked at the boy gripping onto his shirt "So what's next Witter? You gonna sick your civil servant dad on me? Can you see..." he shoved the boy off, straightening out his clothes "I'm barely shaking in my boots."
