RUMOUR HAS IT

...🛶...

WHEN Heather awoke the morning after the tumultuous party, the only thing she was expecting was a hangover to take with her to school. But when the sun rose, she found not only Pacey passed out beside her but her brother too. The Leery boy had returned from the party in search of his sister and instead found his best friend in her bed, and so after a quick interrogation, Dawson thanked Pacey for taking care of her before filling him in on what had happened.

And now it was Heather's turn.

"Wait, Joey kissed you?"

Dawson scoffed out a laugh as he and Pacey waited for the girl to finish getting ready for school "Yes."

The Leery girl poked her head out of her closet "Like great Aunt Ida at Thanksgiving?"

"No, like a real boy/girl kiss. She was wasted and talking about The Icehouse when she just kissed me, rolled over and fell asleep."

"Wow." She was surprised at her best friends boldness "And?"

Dawson frowned "And what?"

Pacey rolled his eyes "She means how was it, man?"

"It was a kiss." The blond shrugged "A kiss between two friends."

Heather snorted as she slipped her shoes on "Right."

"Look, this isn't what's important." Dawson sighed "What's important is Jen. She broke up with me because of Billy."

"No, she broke up with you because you kept throwing her past back in her face." Heather corrected, sweeping her hair up into a messy ponytail.

Dawson frowned as he moved to her window seat "I didn't mean to."

"We know." Pacey sighed having already gone through this entire conversation the night before.

"She's just not capable of commitment. She threw out honesty, romance and respect." Dawson scoffed, eyes trailing across the yard "Every time I see Billy outside her house I'm reminded of that."

"Dawson." Heather scolded "Stop staring at her house like it's going to disappear."

Pacey nodded as he stood from the girls bed "Yeah man, it's creepy and weird."

"It is not!" Dawson defended, rolling his eyes when the two merely ignored him and left the room before he muttered to himself "It's not.
