...🛶...

HEATHER was thankful she had to be at the school early to finish setting up for the dance, for it meant she got to avoid witnessing her father pack his bags into the trunk of his car and drive away. Dawson, however, wasn't so lucky.

But her mind was soon taken off her parents as she made the finishing touches on the decorated gym before she was whisked away by an excited Andie who led her over to a table where she found not only Jen, Jack, Dawson and Joey, but Pacey too. The McPhee girl dragged her brother onto the dance floor to warm him up before she and Dawson set their plan in motion and so Heather took the opportunity to pull the Witter boy aside "You don't dance."

He nodded "I don't."

"So why are you here, Pacey?" She sighed.

"I thought Andie had a point about missing out on the high school experience." He shrugged innocently "Besides, didn't it turn into a group thing?"

Heather scoffed before shaking her head and grabbing a hold of Jen's hand "Wanna dance?"

"Sure." She laughed, allowing the girl to lead her into the middle of the dance floor.

The pair moved to the rhythm, laughing as they did, just enjoying the moment before someone popping a bubble of gum next to them had them pause and turn to find Abby "Hey."

"Hi, Leery." She greeted the girl shortly before raising an eyebrow at Jen "So I see you decided to slum it after all."

"Yeah, they invited me as part of this group thing—"

"Yeah, whatever." Abby cut her off and gave a cutting smile "Nice dress. In fact, I have the same... in a smaller size."

Jen scoffed as they watched the girl strut off "God, she's such a bitch."

"Remind me again why you've been hanging out with her?" Heather raised an eyebrow.

The blonde sighed "I don't know, I guess she's kinda fun sometimes."

Heather snorted and opened her mouth to respond when the blonde was suddenly tugged away just as a slow song started "Jen!" Andie beamed "I have a great idea. Why don't you dance with my brother, Jack?"

The Leery girl sighed as Andie came back over with a smug smile "You know this is a bad idea, right?"

"How?" Andie scoffed as she grabbed the girls hands and began to sway to the music "She's cute, he's cute."
