"Found it!" Anna cheered walking in the kitchen.
Thomas was nearly done as she walked to the counter next to him. "Found what? You ran off so fast I thought I was cooking dinner."
"Well seeing as we were talking about hearts and romantic things. I assumed you like a nice flash of the past" Being at shoulder's length she held up the photo of his father making Thomas quickly take it.
It was a photo of three, A young tall brown haired man and a dark haired woman in a blue graduation gown were at a small school graduation. A toddler in a green onesie was held up by the hip for the photo.
"Oh I remember this photo I thought you lost it" Watching him light up with interest Anna smiled and looked over the photo. "Yes this was when you were two years old. I was moving boxes around last week when this was poking out the top."
A familiar question came in his head but with a sigh he thanked his mother. "Mind if I have this in my room?"
Giving a dimpled smile she happily answered before kissing his cheek. "Of course."
Staring blankly to the photo on his lap a tired look of concern reflected from the now cleaned glass. Winds grew louder as colder weather had begun as the view outside was now almost pitch black.
Crouched over on the bed the photo was lifted as an almost identical man smiled back. A man he had never gotten a full sentence with.
Looking to his younger mother a memory played
"Mom...why can't we talk to the tiny people?"
Freezing almost instantly a shocked look spread on the unsuspecting mother. Her hands loosened as she moved away from the half shut curtains. "Why on earth....oh...I see. This is about that possible human you saw at our neighbors?"
"Well...maybe"
A soft smile showed as she turned knelling down. Holding up his chin a worried expression showed. "Humans can hurt you sweetheart. Besides your father worked hard to keep us from being seen."
"Yeah?" A smile spread as Thomas held onto his mother's arm. His excited green eyes looking for more information only to get a nod in response.
"Yes. But you weren't here yet so you don't know" A soft nuzzle was give as blankets were pulled over Thomas's chest. "You just listen to Hayden and I. Humans will only cause you trouble."
"But what if...they were my age?" Shifting deeper in his own blankets he gave a questioning look. "What's the difference? We're just bigger."
Looking her gaze she left out a breath before moving herself up. "We just started to grow a community. We only have so many giants. And humans can stop that. You don't want your sister to get hurt do you?"
With a quick shake of the head he watched his mother reclose the curtains before she walked to the light switch.
"Get some rest. And don't worry about humans. The grown ups will take care of them."
Moving up the photo on his wall across from his bed. Thomas stared to the photo before pulling out his phone pulling up a photo of Charlie. "I hope this is just something stupid"
"Tom" Hayden came around the corner looking to see the teenager looking toward his phone.
"Tom you seen Lily?" Walking in pulling down his loose shirt for bed. "That girl can hide in so many places when it's time for us to brush teeth." A soft laugh left. His tired eyes spotting the constructed teen.
"No" Thomas kept his eyes focused on his phone.
"You texting your girl? If so I hope your homework is done." Hayden walked in as Thomas shook his head.
"Just...thinking of a friend." Thomas put away his phone.
