"I don't know when I can see you but soon. I just need my manger to say it's okay. She can be very demanding"

Walking in the busy hall of the school Evelyn held the phone to her ear by the shoulder as she looked through a box of old school tapes.

"After your sudden move? Do you need me to come? I can help you find another job"

"No no. I just need time. A case just started I just need some time to figure it out. But I promise first thing we will be out enjoying all the sights you have been telling me about" Smiling to the phone. She looked over the most recent tape.

Silence came over the phone before the male spoke. "Look I know after the accident you feel responsibility to this lady. But saving us doesn't mean you owe your life to her."

"I got us in that mess...yes it does." Lowering her shoulders she set the tape back before getting her phone from her shoulder. "I'll call you after work Tyler. Love you"  Hanging up Evelyn looked outside.

Pulling out her braid she sighed as she let out her lock. Looking out the nearest window she smiled as she noticed Thomas sitting against a tree on the small hill outside the school.

She checked her phone frowning at her old texts but looked past to see she had twenty more minutes of her lunch break.

"She won't bother me if I'm with Tom"

Walking outside she happily jogged up the hill overhearing him talking.

"Let me see your girlfriend and see how she acts"

Stopping she was a few feet away. Right out of sight of Thomas. A confused look came on her face before she noticed his cellphone making her smile a bit. "Oh...duh, he's on the phone."

A laugh left  "Are you kidding? Jess pass out cold at least fire eyes can handle humans"

She moved in closer stopping as she heard the boy's voice. "Who is that?" She muttered under her breath. She was right behind giving a small grin laughing inside at how he never noticed her.

"She is pretty good at her job" Thomas smiled to his phone.

She blushed a bit before replying "Your not bad yourself"

To her surprise Thomas nearly spun himself down the hill as he put a hand to his chest dropping his phone. "Ev! Oh god you scared me." His face turned pale as he looking around her for anyone else.

"Sorry sorry I shouldn't have snuck up." Kneeling down she got his phone noticing no one on the phone. 'Did he hang up?'

He breathed out getting his phone and rubbed his eyes. "It's fine. Why are you here I thought you be at work"

"Well I technically am...just thought I hang out with you for lunch" She watched him put his phone in his bag nodding"Yeah that's fine. I was just talking to my friend, he's girlfriend wants to meet me or something"

"Friend?" A soft smile came on her face as she sat next to him. Crossing her legs watching him stuff in the phone to his front zipper.

"Yeah...his name is Charlie. He doesn't go to this school."

"Oh so Charlie IS real huh?"

Looking at her blankly, she smiled "Your sister's imaginary friend"

"What do yo...oh wait!" He laughed out load.

Evelyn held a hand over her mouth joining in before moving a bit closer. "So he is real then? Not your sister's imaginary friend?"

"Ok you got me. He's not but it's hard to explain when Charlie wants to face chat"

She gave a soft smile. "I planted those roses too. Can't wait to see them grow" Her fingers moved in his as she held his hand.

"Yeah?"

"Y-"

A load ringtone cut her short as her head spun to her front pocket.

Before Thomas could respond with it's ok he overheard her voice change bitter as she pulled out her phone.

"Ugh not now"

Turning her head back he noticed her brows were lowered as she had a discussed look on her face before she met eyes again.

She blushed as she quickly kissed Thomas' cheek. "Sorry family on the phone. But call me after school and I can talk then'' Standing up quickly she walked off glaring at her phone.

"Geez I never saw Eve upset before" Thomas gave a concerned look before shaking it off. "It's fine no one is happy all the time"
