Walking in after his younger siblings Charlie moved around the kitchen checking his phone. Seeing a recent text from Thomas made him smile as he saw the great news.

"He got it early!" He cheered to himself leaning against the countertop.

He happily texted back and said he meet him there this weekend to celebrate.

Putting his phone away he flinched as his mother stood across from him arms crossed.

"Hey mom" Charlie gave a worried expression.

Her cold stare made his head turn twisting his phone in his hands. "You know the school calls me when you skip class"

"I was just at Jessie's besides its an elective class anyway. It not required" Charlie argued

"It is for making up credits. You know you are going to need it to graduate" His mother slammed down a report card.

"I know mom I'm just...hanging out with friends is all. Besides I could just get a GED."

"Your brother had his grades up. Had solid A's and B's. Maybe we need to look over your curfew again and have you stop being around your girlfriend all the time. Letting you skip class"

"She has nothing to do with this! I made the decision." His head turned glaring at his mother as he pushed himself up.

"Well make better ones because you are not gonna be a drop out. Is that understood?"

Charlie narrowed his eyes. He snatched his phone and walked out slamming the door behind him.

"She has a bit of a point" Jessie watched Charlie pacing back and forth in her living room.

"She is making you sound like a bad example and your agreeing with her?" Charlie stopped infront of her.

"I mean I skip too but i'm still better at school then you" She gave him a knowing look. "How is your buddy with grades?"

"He's a straight A student..."

"Perfect have him tutor you! I do it but my own work is piling up along with work."

"Well he actually just got his own job."

"Won't hurt" Charlie rubbed his neck "But he's getting ready for a date tomorrow he won't want to.....what are you doing?"

"Calling him" His girlfriend opened his passcode.

"Jessie no give me my phone" He reached but missed as she jumped over the couch holding it up.

"Give me my phone!" He ran around as she ran in her bedroom slamming the door.
