"Jess-"
"Answer me Thomas. Could he get hurt?" Jessie narrowed her eyes as she soon lost a lot of fear to the now nervous Giant. Unaware of how close Charlie was lately to being hurt only a few weeks ago.
Fighting to think of the right words Thomas stood backing away to his bed as he sat.
Jessie's struggling to hold her stance as she tried to witness this giant easily fitting into this massive space around her. She had to remind herself she wasn't in a different world.
"He's small but smart. we keep in contact all the time. But I...I can't promise anything."
Jessie blinked "You can't promise? Bullshit!" Stomping on his desk she earned Thomas's full attention.
"If he could get hurt. I want him in our world! In our space! Not in to this god like world! Where you guys can just lift a car like a toy or where your phone could fall on him and he could get all his bones broken! I am not explaining to his Mother and Father that he was killed because his friend wasn't watching close enough! Or some other person. Like your girlfriend or something else."
A guilty look came across his face as his shoulders dropped.
The room calmed as Jessie caught her breath as she held her head. Moving her other to her hip. "I'm can't live without Charlie. Especially right now" Tears filled Jessie eyes as she dropped her arm.
Nodding Thomas stood himself up. "Let me get you home...give me a minute" Turning toward the door he walked off toward the door.
Peeking in the hall he looked to see his mother walking up toward the door next to his room.
Walking out more she jumped a bit before smiling. "Thomas! Goodness you said you be here by five." She put a hand to her chest as she watched her son walk over.
Noticing her holding his sister to the hip his face turned to confusion. "She's sleeping?"
"Sports day at school. You be suprised how many kids can scarp up their knees in less than an hour." Rubbing her daughter's back and heading in the bedroom.
"I was coming over to get something to snack on. But I didn't see anything. I'm just going to go back to check on a friend before the meeting." Thomas looked to the wall thinking of his bedroom on the other side.
Setting down the tired six year old Anna pulled the blanket over her. "Well get a jacket. It's dropping outside. But If you're getting anything for your girlfriend you are more then welcome to my extra chocolates" Anna teased getting an eye roll back.
"I have been sharing peanuts with her all day. We're fine. Besides I'm not seeing her after work." Thomas half lied. He didn't want to explain to Eva if she talked with his mother.
"Alright. But home by dinner Mister" She pointed giving a fake stern face earning a laugh and kiss on the cheek.
"I'll be home as soon as I can." Thomas smiled before turning and leaving.
Standing next to Eve at the meeting circle Thomas drummed his fingers against his arm as he barley listened to the same reports.
His eyes wondered to the back of his other coworkers before lowering to the ground. A feeling of the strong winds made a few shiver or rub their arms.
Most of the meetings took place a mile from Thomas' work area which would take him longer to get home unfortunately. Too long for his thoughts to linger.
Not too long before he dropped off Jesse who had no words but only soft sobs.
Why was she so upset? He never imagined she be this emotional over something like this. Scared? Yes! But crying?
'She sounded so much braver on the phone'
He was just hoping to not get a long argument with Charlie because of how upset he made his girlfriend.
'Thomas" A nudge to his side caught his attention as he peeked to his left to Eve as she gave an an uncomfortable laugh. "He asked you a question." Eyeing Thomas's trainer the dark haired boy turned his head quickly to meet with eyes staring.
"I...sorry one more time" He chuckled nervously.
"The animal. Did you make the report?"
"Yes! Yes. I did" With a quick nod the group turned back to the front as the meeting continued.
"Smooth" Evelyn teased as she nudged his arm again with her elbow. Getting a playful eye roll. "I wrote the report for you by the way. You can't get sloppy they will be all over your ass"
"Noted." He agreed
Walking to the front door a cold chill moved up his spine as he felt the cool air blow around him. Looking above his head he looked to the large colds above as he knew it was getting close to cold rains as he opened the door.
Only to be met with a panicked face.
"Thomas!" His mother bolted to him grabbing his shoulders as she looked him over. "Have you seen her?"
"Who? What the hell is going on?" He looked around to the messy home. The cushions thrown around the floor and every door open.
"Lily! She was sleeping and now she's gone!'' Anna snapped letting him go before holding her head.
"Lily?... She's gone? Ugh probably outside again. Relax Mom." Moving a hand to his mother's shoulder she moved away.
"No. She can't be it's freezing outside." Grabbing her coat she shoved it on as Thomas turned to open the door only for it to open by itself followed by a small sneeze.
Both froze as they soon had a look of guilt as Hayden walked in holding a shivering Lily.
