A clear view of the the giant's profile conformed her theory.
"Thomas?" Backing away she hid behind the tree as the oblivious titan lowered himself quickly snatching up his phone.
"I knew I dropped this" Standing to his full height he opened his phone smiling to the photo of his mother and sister before checking who called last.
"Oh Jessie" Giving a huff he stuffed away his phone. "I need to talk with Charlie" shaking his head softly.
A small turn soon stopped as a soft crunch made him stop dead in his tracks. His head turned as he peeked behind his shoulder.
"G...gia..." Shoving her hands over her mouth she noticed silence on the other side of the tree.
"Oh Jessie....I need to talk with Charlie.."
The thundering voice set a deep chill down her spin. Not long ago they were talking on the phone like normal people. Now one wrong move and she's dead!
Crunch
Tear filled eyes lower as she noticed a few leaves near her feet by the tree above. Drops of tears slid down her face.
"Lily? Charlie?" The ground shook softly with the approaching footsteps.
Holding her head think of a plan immediately failed with the approaching footsteps. The grass softly bouncing with each step as a firmer tone was heard above.
"Come on guys, i'm working...."
Like an eclipses the sun was blocked leaving Jessie in his shadow.
Taking deep breathes Jess avoided eye contact. 'This isn't real. There is no way giants can exist.'
Everything around Jess was dead silent. Besides a few birds. Time had stayed still for a whole minute. Concern soon replaced fear on Jessie as she peeked over her shoulder as the sight of a gray tennis shoe the size of an suv stood sideways to her.
'Why isn't he doing anything?'
As if answering her question the giant slowly knelt down. His knee landing just a foot away as her face grew white backing off her head finally agreeing to look upward to causing her feet to finally stop.
A confused, nervous look came on his face. His green eyes seeming to scan her over like a concerned friend. "Jessie?" Both giving the same look of concern and fear Jessie held her arm before aggressively twisting it.
"Jess stop! Your not dreaming your gonna hurt yourself" Thomas hissed loudly hesitating to lift her up how he usually would Charlie.
Letting go Jessie shook her arm shaking her head to the ground. "Ow! Ugh! No no" snapping her head to the giant she finally found her voice. "What the hell!?"
"Shh! My coworker will hear you just relax. I just wanted you take a minute to take all this in"
"Take what in that your the size of a building!?"
"Um...yeah"
Getting the worst evil look he ever seen he avoided eye contact peeking around the tree for any signs of his crush. Charlie already told him Eve can be aggressively serious around humans. God only knows how she be seeing him talking to a girl.
"Where's Charlie? Asshole" Jessie spat venomously.
Still avoiding her eyes he answered in a smart tone. "How should I know? I haven't seen him in two days"
"Well he isn't answering me tex-"
Ding
Her eyes widened as she looked to her phone.
Charlie: Had a bad signal last night, sorry talk to you after my study hall.❤
"I...um..." She gave a nervous laugh putting her phone in her pocket. "Right um...never mind"
"Well you can't walk back by yourself. One wrong path and you be grabbed" Turning his head in her direction he looked at her confused expression.
"So you and my boyfriend we're friends for years?"
"Yes"
Calming herself she crossed her arms."Your the same Thomas I talked to on the phone a few days ago?"
"Yes and the same one who asked for dating advice" Shaking his head he reached to her setting down his hand. "Climb on I can take you to my place and take you to the human side after work"
Peeking over the massive hand Jessie looked back up. "Your not gonna stuff me in your pocket right?"
"No promises" A soft smile came on his face.
Nodding softly she climbed onto his hand.
