Chapter 56

Where's your Dad?" Eve asked getting a two towels from the hallway closet.

"Hayden? He's sleeping in the master bedroom. Work usually drains him so he's out cold until my mom wakes him up for dinner." Thomas spoke from the bathroom looking for a new bottle of shampoo and conditioner from the sink cabinet. 

"Oh no. I could tell by the snoring. I just mean't your actual dad." Eve carefully said just seeing a slight pause but he continues looking before standing up and showing her the bottles of coconut shampoo and conditioner.

"Dead." Thomas said flatly "He passed away when I was little." He shrugged. "Lily is Hayden's and my mom's kid and Hayden started dating my mom after they met. My mom hurt her ankle on a jog and he was patrolling and happened to find her."

"Oh. Huh well when did you move here?" Evelyn asked tilting her head before taking the hair products. "Do you remember?"

Thomas' eyes shifted a bit to the floor as he was frozen in thought before he gave a bit of a hum "I think my mom moved here when she was pregnant with me. Why?" He asked

She shurgged "Well you asked me when I moved here I had to get my turn." She moved up kissing his cheek. "Sorry that happened." She put a hand on his chest.

"Oh. Don't worry I barely remember him. After Lily was born my focus was on not trying to get her hurt and keeping myself outta trouble"

Biting her cheek Evelyn pushed herself to ask. "Did you ever...see human when you were little? Just wondering."

"What is with all the human stuff? You know we haven't seen one since the blonde teen or man you had me get outta the cave for you" Thomas put a hand behind her back walking her to the bathroom.

Being pushed in Evelyn turned. "First off. My arm was just too short second. I heard more humans were around when you were younger." She huffed holding her towel to her chest.

"Sometimes" He laughed giving a concerned look. "Why is it bothering you?"

"No.You act just like my brother" She shook her head soon regretting it after hearing Thomas' response.

"You have a brother?" Thomas asked

Evelyn's shoulders tensed before looking away. "Well...yeah. His name is Tyler. But he didn't move with me."She shurgged her shoulders "I just don't want you to get in trouble. I care about you. You know that right?" She raised her brows.

"Of course" He gave a half smirk. "And I care about you too" He kissed her before turning her and shut the door. ''Now hurry before somebody has to go to the bathroom please" He teased thru the door hearing a tsk on the other side.

As soon as he shut the door he heard about her open as he looked over to see Hayden fully dressed.

"Where are you going?" Thomas asked eyeing the supervisor uniform.

"Something happened with a report. Probably a new person. I'll be back in twenty minutes'' The older man sighed heading to the front door. "Let your mom know alright?"

Thomas nodded watching him leave. "At least he calmed down." He sighed as he headed to the kitchen.
