EPISODE 27 : TO THE RESCUE

I don't know what to feel upon heeding Gabriele's phrase but I know that he is just throwing jokes around. Gabriele is my friend and there's nothing wrong with protecting me because we're like siblings. He stares at me after saying those words but I stay still and just rolled my eyes, "Enough joking, umuwi na kayo," I commanded, and I push them both to the direction of our gate. 

Narating namin ang gate habang sila ay patuloy kong tinutulak. Nakapamaywang ko silang hinarap at tumingin kay Clyde, "Stop what you're planning for Emily. I can manage it, you don't have to get yourself involved," I stated. Si Gabriele naman ang aking hinarap, "You have to keep your hands away from this too." 

Disagreement crossed their face but before they utter such a word, I halted them by merely oscillating my head, "I can do this alone. You have to put your trust in me and I won't let myself be in vane," my latter statement left them no choice but to agree with my decision.

"If you think of something that you can't deal alone, don't hesitate to call me or message me, right away," Clyde retaliated. I nod and smile back at him. They bid goodbye together, Gabriele is quiet, looks like something keeps on bothering him. I send them home to relax because we still have a class tomorrow. I locked the gate and decided to go inside.

I yawned when I enter my room. Mother is probably sleeping tightly right now. I open my window and a frosty wind blows my face. I smiled, the night seems so peaceful, the moon is shining brightly and the stars were twinkling; making the sky more like a glittered horizon. Am I one of those twinkling stars?

Napatigil ako sa pagtanaw sa langit nang tumunog ang aking cellphone. Kinurap-kurap ko nang ilang beses ang aking mga mata habang nakatingin sa screen nito.

Pinindut ko ang answer button at itinuon ang cellphone sa aking tainga, "Hello?"

Narinig ko ang pagbuntong hininga nito sa kabilang linya, "Can you please turn on the video call?" sagot naman nito na siyang nagpabuntong-hininga sa akin. Bumilis ang tibok ng aking puso na hindi mawari ang dahilan, dahil ba sa kausap ko siya o dahil ba makikita ko siya.

Napabuntong hininga ako. Imbis na sagutin ang sinambit nito ay tinanong ko siya. "Gabi na Clyde. Bakit napatawag ka?" Inalis ko muna ang cellphone sa tainga bago pindutin ang video sign.

He is facing the camera, wearing a white hoodie and a pair of headphones. He stares at me on the screen as his adams apple moves, "H-hi, sorry. I-I just wanna uhmm.. see you." He stuttered and scrape the back of his neck.

I walk towards the table and place my phone on the phone holder. I grab a chair beneath and face the screen. He is s now viewing me perfectly, "Kagagaling mo lang sa bahay kanina 'di ba? Gusto mo na 'ko ulit makita? Mukhang delikado ka na ah," ngumiti ako pagkatapos kung sambitin ang mga katagang 'yon. Without knowing na ako ang mas nalalagay sa delikado. 

I cup my face while looking at him on the screen, he looks fresh and smells good, "Oh God, don't smile," yumuko ito na parang nahihiya na mas lalong ikinalapad ng ngiti ko. He looks so shy. Dinama nito ang dibdib at yumuko habang tinatabonan ang mukha. Ang lakas ng loob maghamon ng video call pero hindi naman pala mapanindigan. 

"Wait did you see the announcement on the Saint Augustinious's Page. Mrs. Allison announced that we will be having a Farm Field trip this week and it's mandatory,"
