Chapter 37

It's been two years since I saw Steve last, me and my sister moved out of my dads house after he and Pepper got married and into our own place down the road from my father obviously "Are you still looking?" Victoria asks coming over to the table where i am using my fathers technology to try and locate Steve "Um no" I say shutting it down "When was the last time you slept Caroline?" Victoria asks and i shrug "I slept" I say "I am getting some sense of Deja Vu I am sure i have gone through this with my father" I say narrowing my eyes 

"Penelope?" I hear my father's voice as the front door opens "Hey dad" I say getting up and standing in front of the table "Don't hide it, FRIDAY works both ways" my father says and i roll my eyes "Pepper and i are going on a walk, maybe you should join us" My father says "Dad i am quite busy" I say "Trying to find Steve?" My father asks and i nod "Yes, i am sure he is still in America" I say turning and going through my papers 

"Come with us" I hear Pepper say and i turn again "You have been stuck in this house for two years, barely slept, barely ate" She says "Do you even still know how to use your powers?" My father asks and i throw an apple at his head "Okay you do" He says and i roll my eyes "She's been in this living room for months" Victoria says and i snap my head at her "He's your father, he should know" Victoria says and i roll my eyes 

"Fine i sit my ass in this room all day trying to find my war criminal boyfriend who's in the run with my best friend after leaving my brother to be put back to sleep in Wakanda" I say annoyed "I'm not crazy, i have my reasons" I say and he laughs "You are your father's daughter" Pepper says "Go get changed, we are going for a walk" Pepper says "Fine" I say and walk away to my room. I get changed into some leggings, sports bra, a zipper hoodie and trainers before putting my hair up in a pony tail "Ready?" Pepper asks and i nod 

I look at my father "Do you still want that?" I ask taking his coffee and walking out with the three of them "You're going a little crazy" My father says and i roll my eyes "I am not crazy" I say annoyed "Why don't you talk to someone about it?" My father asks "I'm a Stark, i am stubborn and i am proud. I'm not going to admit that a boy had this much affect on me. Why only because he had to leave for the greater good and i decided to stay because i didn't want to leave my father because he is the crazy stubborn one. So I'm not going to talk to someone about it" I rant 

"I think you just did" Victoria says "I never thought for a second i would have boyfriend issues not after that slimy cheater and then i fall in love with a freaking superhero" I say rolling my eyes "So can we change subjects?" I ask "I had a weird dream" My father says "Now we're talking" I say smiling "you know how you're having a dream, and in the dream you gotta pee?" My father says "Yeah." Pepper says "Okay, and then you're like, 'Oh my god, there's no bathroom, what am I gonna do?', 'Oh! Someone's watching,' ''m gonna go in my pants.'" HE says 

"Right. And then you wake up, and in real life you actually have to pee." Pepper says "Yes." My father says "Yeah. Everybody has that." I say "Right! That's the point I'm trying to make. Apropos of that, last night, I dreamt, we had a kid. So real. We named him after your eccentric uncle. Uh, what was his name?" My father says to Pepper and i laugh "Right." She says nodding 

"Morgan! Morgan." My father says "So you woke up, and thought that we were..." Pepper begins "Expecting." My father says and my eyes widen "Yeah." Pepper says "Yes?" My father asks excited "Wait am i having another sibling?" I as excited "No." Pepper says shaking her head "I had a dream about it. It was so real." My father says "That would be nice, Morgan is a nice name" I say 

"If you wanted to have a kid, you wouldn't have done that" Pepper says tapping my fathers chest attachment "Seriously dad?" I ask "It's just in case" He says "Just in case what?" I ask "It's just a casing unit for nano particles" My father says and i look over at Pepper "She doesn't like the suit?" Victoria asks, i ignore my parents and look at her 

"Um no, it's given us a lot of trouble over the years. Big thing. He exploded most of his suits for her once upon a time and then carried on building them, she was not happy" I explain to her for as a portal opens in front of us "What the hell" I say confused "Tony and Penelope Stark, I'm Doctor Stephen Strange. I need you to come with me. Oh, uh, congratulations on the wedding, by the way." He says looking at my father and Pepper 

"Are we getting fined for the way we are walking?" I ask confused "We need your help. Look, it's not overselling to say that the fate of the universe is at stake." Dr Strange says "Strange is right" I say staring at him confused "And who's "we"?" My father asks and Bruce appears behind Dr Strange "Hey, guys." Bruce says "Bruce." My father and I say in unison "Pepper and " Bruce says "Victoria, Caroline's twin" She says "Hi." Pepper says 

"You okay?" My father asks while Bruce pulls us three into a hug "Penelope, Tony follow me" Dr Strange says "We will be back" I say to Pepper and Victoria as i step into the portal "Hello" I say seeing another man "I'm Penelope" I say and he nods "Wong" He says and i smile "So what are we doing here?" I ask "From the dawn of the universe, there was nothing. Then, boom! The Big Bang sent six elemental crystals, hurtling across the virgin universe. These Infinity Stones each control an essential aspect of existence." Wong explains using magic to show us

"Space. Reality. Power. Soul. Mind. And Time." Dr Strange says, the stones lighting up as he says the names, when he says time he opens his necklace to reveal a green stone "Tell me his name again" My father asks "Thanos. He's a plague, Tony. He invades planets. He takes what he wants. He wipes out half the population. He sent Loki. The attack on New York. That's him." Bruce says "he sent Loki?" I ask "This is it... What's our timeline?" My father asks

"No telling. He has the Power and Space Stones, that already makes him the strongest creature in the whole universe. If he gets his hands, on all six Stones, Tony..." Bruce says "He can destroy life on a scale hitherto undreamt of." Dr Strange says and i look at him with a frown "Did you seriously just say "hitherto undreamt of"?" My father asks leaning against a cauldron and stretching "Are you seriously leaning on the Cauldron of the Cosmos?"

"Is that what this is.... ?" My father asks just as Dr Strangers cloak smacks his arm, surprising him making me laugh, my father looks overly offended as he straightens himself "I'm going to allow that." My father says "But If Thanos needs all six, why don't we just stick this one down the garbage disposal?" I ask with a shrug "No can do." Dr Strange says

"We swore an oath to protect the Time Stone. With our lives." Wong says and i sigh "And I swore off dairy, but then, Ben & Jerry's named a flavor after me, so...." My father says "Stark Raving Hazelnuts." Dr Strange says "It's not bad." My father says "A bit chalky." Dr Strange says "A Hunka-Hulka Burning Fudge is our favorite." Wong says "That's a thing?" Bruce asks "I don't even have one so be proud" I say annoyed 

"Whatever. Point is: things change." My father says "Our oath to protect the Time Stone cannot change. This Stone may be the best chance we have against Thanos." Dr Strange says "And still conversely, it may also be his best chance against us." My father says and i nod "Well, if we don't do our jobs." Dr Stranger says

"What is your job exactly, besides making balloon animals?" My father asks interested "Your little a little wizard" I say with a smile "Protecting your reality, douchebag." Dr Strange says and i smile "Okay, guys, could we table this discussion right now? The fact is that we have this Stone. We know where it is. Vision is out there somewhere with the Mind Stone, and we have to find him now." Bruce says and me and my father share an awkward look

" Yeah, that's the... thing." I say "What do you mean?" Bruce asks "Two weeks ago, Vision turned off his transponder. He's offline." My father says "What? Tony, you lost another super bot?" Bruce asks "I didn't lose him. He's more than that. He's evolving." My father says "He's like almsot human now, he feels" I say happily "Who could find Vision, then?" Dr Strange asks

My father looks at me "Shit" He whispers quietly "Probably Steve Rogers." My father says "Oh, great." Dr Strange says sighing in relief "That's the thing" I say "It's not that easy. God, we haven't caught up in a spell, have we?" My father says to Bruce "No." Bruce says looking at me "The Avengers broke up. We're toast." I say "Broke up? Like a band? Like The Beatles?" Bruce asks surprised and disappointed 

"Cap and I fell out hard. We're not on speaking terms." My father says and Bruce looks at me "Don't look at me" I say "You broke up?" He asks "More like he disappeared from the face of the earth after breaking me out of prison" I say "listen to me. Thor's gone. Thanos is coming. It doesn't matter who you're talking to or not." Bruce says and i sigh
