Sage

August 23, 2018.

"I'm going to miss you," Sierra cried in my arms.

"You'll be at UCLA before you know it," I assured her, attempting to keep my own tears at bay.

"Hopefully," she sniffled, pulling away from the hug.

"Aria, come here," I pulled her in for a hug. Aria is one to never show emotion, she likes being known as a 'hard ass' but deep down I know she's a softy.

"Don't make me cry," she whispered seriously in my ear before pulling away.

"You ready to go?" Mom asked me.

"Yeah," I nodded my head. "I'll miss you guys," I pulled them in for one last group hug.

"Don't forget about us when you all famous and shit in that big bad city," Sierra chuckled sad.

"Never," I promised before grabbing the handles of my suitcases and giving them one last wave before walking out into the car.

I buckled into the back seat, squished between Felix and Paisley. They both had the day off of work so the entire family could bring me to the airport. I've flown many times, I'm not nervous for the flight. I'm nervous that people on the plane will look at me, or have weapons and suddenly get angry and start stabbing people. These irrational fears race through my head the entire drive to the airport, even though my parents are asking me many questions. "You have your passport?" "Did you remember to bring your charger?" "You have the address of your apartment written down?" And so on.

As the airport comes into view my head starts swirling as I feel my body begin to heat up.

"I can't do this," I whisper out.

"Yes you can," Paisley assures me, putting her hand over my shoulder. "You got this, remember what you're here for!" She gave me a little squeeze as my dad pulls up to the 'drop off' area.

Everyone piles out of the car and I promise to myself that I won't let the tears fall until I'm on the plane.

"Come here sis," Felix holds out his arms. His strong bear hug warms my heart and I don't feel like I could ever let go. "I'm so proud of you for following your dreams, don't forget to text me all the new music you make before you put it out," he speaks.

"I promise," I give him a warm smile before wrapping my arms around Paisley.

"I'm gonna miss you," she stutters out, her voice almost breaking.

"I'm going to miss you too. I'll FaceTime you everyday. You better not break your promise of coming to visit me."

"I won't," she pulls away, "you know I have dreams of seeing LA," she smiles as a tear streams down her face.

"Mama," I reach my arms around her, seeing she's already in tears. I still can't believe my parents are letting me move three states away all alone at the age of seventeen. They see my passion and my desire and they believe in my dreams. I couldn't ask for better parents.

"You be safe my girl," she sniffled, pulling away.

I held onto her shoulders and whispered an "I promise," before making my way to my dad.

I've always been a daddy's girl. Him and I have more in common then my mom and I. I love them both equally but my dad has always been my go to person.

"My sage," he whispered, pulling me in for a protective hug. "I'm stupid for letting you go, aren't I?" He chuckled, making me laugh.

"Probably," I smiled pulling away.

"Alright, you got everything?" He asked.

"Passport, clothes, money, plane ticket, I got it all" I nodded, holding up the few items.
