Sage.

September 28, 2018.

My phone woke me up abruptly and a smile adorned my face instantly. I never wake up this happy but today I get to have a studio session with Finneas.  Interscope didn't really care who was producing my music, as long as I had a single ready soon. Finneas insisted that I come over to the house instead of an actual 'studio'. I wasn't mad about it, it meant I could see Billie. Since we kissed, we've only seen each other once and it was in a business setting, so we couldn't exactly talk.

I sit up, setting my feet on the floor, instantly getting hit with a wave of nausea and dizziness. I know I'm not hungry, I have been ordering groceries since Billie told me that was a thing. I felt stupid not knowing that, but it wasn't a thing back in Aspin. I brush off the awful feeling and walk slowly to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
The past week has been amazing, Billie has texted me every morning, every night, and throughout the day. We haven't talked about the kiss but I'm not worried about it. After the kiss, we cuddled up on her bed and watched a show until we both fell asleep.

Billie insisted she sit on the bed while we record, it was cute but it was extremely distracting. Every time I had to sing anything I had extra nerves, every time she made a movement my face turned pink, every time I glanced at her she was already staring at me. As much as she was distracting she was also helpful with the production. Both her and Finneas saw my vision and I'm very relieved that I don't have to work with fucking Charles anymore.

"So, should I hit send?" Finneas asked after we listened through the whole song.

"Yes," I smiled. He nodded and hit 'send' to Interscope so they could approve it.

"I'm so proud of you!" Billie exclaimed, pulling me in for a bone-crushing hug, making me laugh. "Okay, I'm stealing you now," she announced, dragging me off her bed and into her room while I laughed at her antics.

"I can't believe that just fucking happened," I exhaled, feeling relieved but at the same time awfully nervous.

"I can, you're a real-life angel," Billie hums as I feel her arms snake around my waist from behind, my knees instantly going weak.

"Says you," I turn around in her arms and drape my hands over her shoulders. There was a comfortable moment of silence as we took in each other's details. Her slightly crooked nose, light freckles, and glassy blue eyes pulled me in like an anchor.

Before processing or overthinking, I leaned forward catching her lips in a tender kiss. It was slow and gentle at first. Soaking up her flowery scent, feeling her soft set on mine before her tongue slowly dragged against my bottom lip. I opened my mouth, giving her access. Our lips moved in perfect synchs, like a carefully thought-out orchestra of 8, 097 people.

"Thanks for letting me stay for dinner," I covered up my anxious thoughts with a smile.

"Of course! How did the recording go?" Maggie smiled, setting down food onto the table.

"Good, we sent it in."

"You two are gonna be head to head in the grammy's someday," Finneas chuckled.

"Doubt it," I shook my head.

"Oh shit, mom I totally forgot to tell you. Sage's mom is your old friend," Billie mentioned out of nowhere.

"Really? You mean Lindsay?" Maggie perked up. Patrick began laughing and I was concerned about what he all knew as Maggie playfully smacked him.

"Yeah her, she's my mom," I chuckled, red in the face.

"Wow, I haven't seen her in over 22 years," Maggie exclaimed as she filled a glass of water and everyone began eating.

"How long were you guys' friends?" Billie asked before scooping food into her mouth.

"Basically our entire life we knew each other but we got close in high school and college," Maggie explained. "Is she coming to visit anytime soon?"

"No, my family is pretty busy," I frowned, all of a sudden feeling homesick.
