Next Morning

"Natasha please talk to me." I plead as I follow her into the kitchen, going ignored.

"I'm sorry, okay? I'm an asshole. I was wrong for making the list." I continue and she stops abruptly to face me.

"Wow! Let me call the newspapers Sergeant Brawns Admits She's Wrong!" She says sarcastically.

The others having breakfast silently trying to ignore the interaction but fail miserably as they watch intently.

"Just tell me how to fix this, Nat." I tell her and she takes a deep breath.

"Maybe..there's nothing to fix. You've said it yourself, every time we're close to becoming something we just end up farther apart." She says defeatedly and I lick my lips.

"There's gotta be something." I insist.

"There isn't." She strains.

"This is toxic! We're toxic. Our friendship was great but trying for a relationship never works." She continues.

"So what? This is it?" I ask lowly not believing it.

The others that were watching look at each other also not believing what they were seeing and hearing.

She gives me a small sad smile before giving me a weak nod.

"Yeah." She says before walking towards a cabinet.

My phone buzzes in my pocket making me check it.

Ariana: You okay? You missed today's meeting.

I sigh putting my phone away back into my pocket, instead of staying to have breakfast I walk away.

"You okay, Nat?" Wanda asks the red head as she approaches the table taking a seat.

"Mhm." She hums with a small smile and nod as she pours herself a bowl of cereal.

The others subtly look at one another before continuing to eat silently.

Days slowly go by. Natasha and J.D. are able to be in the same room, they're friends but keep their distance respectfully as they get used to being just friends.

Also, seeing that they won't be anything, J.D. decided to try something she hasn't done in years.

Going on a date.

I'm in the park with a picnic basket in hand when I see who I was looking for. I set down the basket while sneaking up behind them quietly, covering their eyes. But I'm flipped over their shoulder hearing a pop as I land on the ground with a slight groan.

"J.D! Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" Ariana exclaims helping me up.

"No, no that's my fault. Probably shouldn't have sneaked up on a Vet." I chuckle with a slight wince.

"Ooh- your arm's out of it's socket." She grimaces making me look over at it.

"Oh look I guess it is." I say looking over at my right arm.

"Here." She says coming towards me and pops my arm back in.

"Thanks." I say moving it around before walking over to the stuff that I brought for our picnic.

I hand her the bouquet of flowers I bought her.

"Thank you. These are so beautiful." She smiles looking at them.
