Caught In The Widow's Web

Ch 24

Hours have past and we're still in the Quinjet. My eyes closed leaning against the side of the ship. I feel someone sit next to me and I recognized the scent as Natasha. She softly taps my arm. I internally sigh knowing I won't be able to get out of this as I open my eyes. I take out my right ear bud as she's sitting on my right side.

"It's been hours. You haven't said one word, even to Steve. You okay?" She asks softly looking at me but I just look straight up.

I nod going to place the earbud back in but she grabs my hand stopping me making me tense up which doesn't go unnoticed by Natasha. I stand up plugging my earbud back in and make my way to grab my shield and start cleaning it to distract myself.

After some more time spent the Quinjet finally lands and we step out. Clint helping Natasha walk, I want to be the one helping her but my mind won't let me. As we walk further we near a house.

"What is this place?" Thor asks.

"A safe house?" Tony chimes in.

"Let's hope." Clint says and he opens the door allowing us in.

"Honey, I'm home." He says making me suck in a breath as I step inside the home.

A pregnant woman then emerges from another room.

"Hi. Company. Sorry I didn't call ahead." Clint tells her.

"Hey." She smiles and they kiss.

"Gentlemen, this is Laura." He smiles introducing us to her.

"I know all your names." She says and it gets awkward.

We then hear multiple running footsteps.

"Ooh, incoming." Clint says as two kids run in making me swallow thickly looking away.

"Dad!" The girls says as he picks her up.

I try to distract myself by looking at the decor but what the little girl says gets my attention.

"Did you bring Auntie Nat?" She asks making me turn to her.

"Why don't you hug her and find out?" Natasha says smiling making her way to the child picking her up and my heart skips a beat.

I shake my head and suddenly become very interested in a table lamp.

"Sorry for barging in on you." Steve speaks.

"Yeah, we would have called ahead, but we were busy having no idea that you existed." Tony says.

"Yeah, well Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off SHIELD's files, I'd like to keep it that way. I figure it's a good place to lay low." Clint says.

I continue to look around the house when Thor walks out and I follow.

"Thor." I call after him.

"I saw something in that dream. I need answers, I won't find them here." He says and flys away with his hammer before I can say anything.

I release a heavy breath and turn towards the house. Through the open door I see Bruce and Natasha talking.

"I don't have a future with you." I hear Natasha's voice from before in my head.

I finished taking a shower trying to wash away the after affects from the fight the best I could but it didn't seem to work that well. When I open the door I see Natasha leaning against the wall waiting which catches me off guard.
