Ariana and I were in her bed laying under the sheets, both of us leaning on one of our respective elbows, facing each other as we talked.

"I'm really sorry I missed dinner with your family." Ariana tells me after we settled our breathing.

"Don't worry about it, doll. You were busy at your job...which is?.." My eyes narrow at the end questionably and she chuckles softly.

"I'm a liaison." She places a hand on my shoulder.

"But really, I was looking forward to meeting everyone." She pouts adorably and I lean in to peck her lips quickly making her smile.

"And thank you for bringing me food." She adds.

"I know, I know. Don't worry about it and no problem, Tony and Pepper insisted since you were working." I tell her.

"Well give them my thanks." She kisses me and I nod.

"Besides, Christmas is the next holiday you can come then. You can even come over Christmas Eve and spend the night." I offer.

"Maybe you should run that by Natasha." She tilts her head a bit unsure.

"What are you talking about?" I chuckle.

"I'm just joking babe." She tries to brush off but I know better.

"Come on tell me." I insist.

"*sighs* Nothing, just- maybe you might wanna ask Natasha if it won't be to awkward for you guys if I spend the night." She explains.

"You spending the night shouldn't shouldn't be a problem. Natasha and I are cordial towards each other." I say honestly.

"That doesn't mean that there aren't any feelings still there anymore." She says matter of factly as I sigh slightly.

"I care about you, okay? Yes, Natasha and I have a messy past but you are my future, okay?" I raise my brows and she still looks unsure.

I lean in to kiss her lips to which she reciprocates.

"Okay?" I ask again to ease her worry.

"Okay. I really care about you too, J.D." She says looking into my eyes.

"Let me show you how much I do." I reply laying her back on the bed.

Next Morning

I wake up, bright sunlight peeking through the curtains making me cover my eyes before they adjust. Sitting up slightly I see that Ariana is already out of bed which was unusual since I was usually the first one to get up. I get out of bed sliding my boxers and my bra on before making my way to find Ariana.

As I step out of the bedroom I hear faint sizzling long with the smell of food. When I get to the kitchen I see Ariana in front of the stove cooking, wearing my button up as she sings softly. Since she doesn't notice me, I quietly make my way behind her and softly take a hold of waist.

"Shit!" Ariana hisses before relaxing in my arms.

"Hey, you didn't dislocate my arm this time. " I tease making her blush.

"Sorry." She says.

"No, no, I like that I didn't have to have my arm popped back into it's socket." I continue and she flips a pancake on the pan with a chuckle.

"So this is where you ran off to." I smirk kissing between her neck and shoulder blade.

"Yup. Thought you'd like some pancakes before we went to the meeting." She says.
