Peggy Carter, is gone.
Everything around me feels like it's getting worse and worse. The moment I read the message from Sharon everything seemed to get darker.
Steve, Sam and I are now on a plane headed to London. The first flight out we took, actually we were able to get a private jet with our status. That probably won't last long for me.
Steve and I are entirely grateful for Sam's support, after everything that's been discussed I don't know who I can call a friend right now.
Two rows of seats of three were facing each other. I sat on one side while Steve sat on the other side in front of me and Sam sat on the same row as Steve in the aisle seat, leaving the middle seat between them empty.
"What are you thinking Sarge?" Sam asks softly making Steve look at me but I don't turn, keeping my gaze to the right, out the small plane window.
Sam knows this isn't a good time to ask after everything that's happened in less than 24 hours but he wants J.D. to know that he's there for them.
"*sighs* I honestly don't know. Everything's a jumble." I reply.
"What I do know is that I'm moving out of the compound." I add making the two men look surprised.
"I can't stay there. You guys doing your thing, me sitting on my ass. That isn't gonna fly with me." I shake my head.
"It sounds like you're going to sign your new contract." Sam says.
"That's the thing. I'm not." I state finally turning to see their expressions.
"I'll basically be their puppet. They'll be in control of what I do. I feel like I won't be able to wipe my ass without running it by them first." I scoff.
"Are you guys signing it?" I then ask them nervous of their responses.
"You know I'm not." Steve says without missing a beat.
"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you J.D. I owe it to you. I have your back." Sam adds with a nod giving me his answer.
I nod releasing a breath as I turn back out the window.

London
The cathedral is packed with mourners. A choir is singing in the background while Steve and I are 2 of the six pallbearers carrying the coffin. My eyes are red from all the tears that have been shed today.
At the altar a candle burns by a framed photograph of Peggy in her military uniform, her full name written on the bottom.
"And now, I would like to invite Sharon Carter to come up and say a few words." I hear the priest address us but since I'm looking down in deep thought I don't acknowledge who steps up.
I then feel a nudge making me look up and I see Agent 13, our former neighbor from DC up at the podium. She glances at Steve and takes a breath.
"Margaret Carter was known to most as a founder of SHIELD...but I just knew her as Aunt Peggy." She says and my eyebrows raise up in surprise as I realize who she is and I hear Steve take in a breath.
