We are now back in the helicarrier in a conference room, Steve and I were sitting next to each other as everyone else was scattered around the room. We were listening to Fury and Loki's conversation from a different room on a monitor on a glass table. The monitor then turns off, Steve looks up but my gaze continues down on the table.
"He grows on you doesn't he?" Banner asks breaking the silence.
"Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?" Steve asks the blonde.
"He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not from Asgard nor any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the Earth, in return. I suspect, the Tesseract." He replies.
"An army, from outer space?" Steve asks slowly in disbelief.
"So, he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for." Banner says.
"Selvig?" Thor furrows his eyebrows.
"He's an astrophysicist." Banner tells him.
"He's a friend." Thor replies.
"Loki has them under some kind of spell, along with one of ours." Romanoff speaks up.
"I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here." Steve says.
"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guys brain is a bag full of cats, you can smell crazy on him." Banner says.
"Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason but he is of Asgard, and he is my brother." Thor defends.
"He killed 80 people in 2 days." Natasha deadpans.
"He's adopted." Thor then says making me roll my eyes.
Stark and Coulson then walk in talking to themselves. They then start talking about things I don't understand making me zone out again until Fury comes into the room.
"Doctor Banner is only here to track the Cube. I was hoping you might join him." He says to Stark.
"I'd start with that stick of his. It may be magical but it works an awful like a HYDRA weapon." Steve says.
"I don't know about that, but it is powered by the Cube. And I like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys." Fury speaks.
"Monkeys? I do not understand." Thor says confused.
"I do!" Steve exclaims making everyone look over at him.
"I..I understood that reference." He says softly.
"Wizard of Oz, right?" I mumble to him and he nods making me smile and we do our small finger snap handshake happy that we understood a modern reference.
Stark rolls his eyes at the two super soldiers.
"Shall we play Doctor?" Stark asks Banner.
"This way, sir." Banner motions and they walk off.

That Night
It was the middle of night and I suppose everyone is asleep by now even though some were working they have to sleep sometime. Everyone except me. I was sitting up in bed reading with a dim light illuminating the pages of my book.
"Joe?" I hear Steve rasp.
I turn to see Steve squinting, starting to sit up.
