Ch 62

As I started to see Ariana more and more, I found myself at her apartment more often just like right now. I'm laying on her couch with her straddling my waist.

"Joey! *laughs* Joey please!" Ariana pleads as I tickle her.

"You finished my lemonade!" I fight back.

"I only had a sip!" She defends.

"The last sip!"

"I'll make you more! Please!" She says and I stop.

She takes this opportunity to catch her breath. She then gets off me and into her kitchen.

She comes back with an ice cold glass of lemonade handing it to me.

"Thank you." I smile before pecking her lips and she takes a seat next to me.

"You know, back at the Tower, the team was talking about Thanksgiving later this month and I just wanted to run the idea past you if you maybe wanted to come over and spend it with us. Unless you have plans with your family." I offer lightly.

"I don't have any living family anymore." She confesses.

"Really? You've never really talked about that." I say sincerely setting the glass down on a coaster on the coffee table.

"Yeah, something I don't want to bore you with." She waves off.

"You can never bore me." I tell her looking into her eyes and she smiles.

She cups my cheeks and leans in kissing me.

"Besides that something you do with your girlfriend and I have yet to be asked such thing." She teases making me chuckle and I kiss her again.

My phone ringing interrupts our moment making me groan.

"Let me take this." I say getting up and going down the hall.

"Yellow?" I answer the call.

"Sarge."

"..Rhodey? What's up?"

"We need you to come in."

"Um..I'm not reinstated. You know that."

"Tony and I are leaving for reinforcements for the others the mission is really going south. And we need you too."

"Rhodes-

"Nat's gone radio silent. We're afraid she's compromised."

"Alright, I'm on my way." I say then hang up.

I take a deep breath before heading back into the living room.

"I'm sorry, Ari. Something came up with the team and I gotta go. But I'll make it back tonight to pick you up for our date." I assure.

"No worries, do you need a ride?" She gets up from her seat.

Before I can reply there's a knock on her door.

"I'll get tha-

"No!- I mean I can get it." She's quick to get up to make her way to the door.

She checks the peep hole then opens the door, I walk over to see Tony and Rhodey.

"Well hello." Tony says checking Ariana out not so subtly.

"Guys? How did you know where to find me?" I furrow my eyebrows.

"It was faster this way. We need to hurry." Tony tells me turning to my direction.

"Alright." I nod before turning to Ariana.
