Mallory reclined back between Devins legs as they sat in the yachts peak beside Liam and Noelle. The sun was beginning to set and Liam began rolling a joint they were about to share.
"How drunk are you?" Mallory asked Noelle who had been quiet. "I'm not drunk yet just tired from the water" Noelle responded.
"I'm a little drunk already" Liam said without anyone asking him. "You're drunk drunk" Devin smiled at Liam and extended his hand to grab the joint and light it up. Once he did he gave it back to Liam who shared it with Noelle. When Mallory saw Noelle taking a hit she widened her eyes as there was no cough after.
Noelle handed it to Devin who took his hit. "So you all are experts?" Mallory raised her brow.
"Do you want to try it?" Devin was handing it to Mallory. Mallory looked at it then back at Devin.
"Try it once" Liam said. "No I'm fine I don't want to be made fun of if I start coughing" Mallory said.
"We're not going to laugh, right?" Liam shook his head as he looked at Devin and Noelle who also said no. Mallory hesitated but grabbed the joint.
"We'll just call you weak lungs for the rest of our life" Liam smiled. Mallory flipped him off.
"Don't pull hard, take it slow" Devin said but Mallory handed him back the joint. "I totally respect it but I'd rather stick to alcohol" Mallory said as she laid back on Devin who hugged her.
"The smell doesn't bother you?" Devin asked. "Not really" Mallory shook her head.
Liam turned to see another boat not to far and squinted his eyes to see who it was. "I think they're looking for you guys" Liam said. They all turned and realized it was paparazzi who were drilling behind Noelle and Devin.
"They've gotten annoying at this point" Noelle said. "Hide the joint before they photograph you guys with it, they'll make a headline that the media will keep alive for a week or more" Liam said grabbing the joint from Noelle's hand.
"I can care less" Devin said and stuck his middle finger out at them. Mallory smiled as she liked seeing Devin be himself.
Mallory stuck her middle finger out too. "We can't be left out" Liam said to Noelle and now they were all flipping them off.
"Lets go to the back lounge, I have board game and snacks" Liam said.
Devin took a last hit before handing it back to Liam. Devin slowed down the side hall and asked Liam to leave them alone.
Mallory walked behind them with Noelle. "Where's Liam?" She asked.
"In the lounge" Devin nodded. Noelle got the hint and walked away.
"What's wrong?" Mallory asked Devin. He shook his head, "nothing, simply wanted to be alone with you" Devin smiled as he sat on the side bar and hugged Mallorys waist to pull her close to him.
"I told my parents we're dating. An editor at some magazine called my mother because they're really close friends and someone there wrote that theres a possible romance happening between you and I and wanted to know if we were okay with them publishing it. I told them not to allow it because I wanted to know what you think of it but I did tell my parents we're dating" Devin said.
"We've been photographed together to many times" Mallory said. "Yeah" Devin nodded.
"Well if another magazine wants to make an article about it without asking for permission I don't mind, it's not like it's not true" Mallory smiled.
"They're not all going to be great headlines, they'll all have to say something about my father being some rapist lawyer" Devin said.
"That's not who you are" Mallory shook her head. "Who am I?" Devin asked.
Mallory looked at him then at the ocean, "so far you've been the person I've always imagined you are, you're living up to the expectations" Mallory smiled and hugged him. Devin rested his chin on her head.
"Can I ask you if I've lived up to your expectations about me?" Mallory asked.
"Why do you ask?"
Mallory pushed back to look at him in the eyes. "Answer my question" She said.
"You've been more than I expected, I used to think you were selfish yet still liked you but now I've come to the realization that you think of everyone else before you. You have an amazing heart" Devin smiled.
"Does that scare you?" Mallory asked. "No" he shook his head. "Why do you push me away every time I try to be intimate with you?" Mallory looked at him.
Devin didn't answer. "Do you not like me enough? Do I not turn you on?" Mallory asked.
Devin let out a small chuckle, "it's none of that, I like you a lot and you do turn me on. I don't want you think that there's something wrong with you, I like everything about you. As a matter a fact I think you're the hottest girl like, ever" Devin smiled as he raised Mallorys head by her chin.
"So then why do you push me away?" Mallory answered. "You have no idea how much I like you Mal, I want us to be as you say intimate, but when we do. I want you to enjoy it because you actually want to be with me I don't want it just to be ordinary sex. If it was that I'd bent you over right here and we'd do it but I want you to feel good and I don't want to stop living up to your expectations. I really really like you" Devin said.
"I hope that not to far away from now the word 'like' will turn into another word because I really like you too" Mallory smiled before pushing herself up on her toes to kiss him.
Mallory enjoyed the way Devin made her feel every time he kissed her and touched her, it was as simple as holding her hand. She felt new butterflies in her stomach.
When they stopped kissing Devin smiled and grabbed her hand. They walked towards the back lounge.
"Finally, I was tired of getting the win every single time" Noelle joked as her and Liam were playing Uno.
"I obviously had to let my girl win" Liam smiled at Noelle. "Excuses, we like real competition" Mallory said as she sat besides Noelle.
"Alright, guess you're in my team" Liam pat Devin on his back as he sat beside him.
Mallory smiled and couldn't believe that she was finally enjoying time with her family, friend, and boyfriend.
