Saber's Pov
Winter: "More than 40 villages have been attacked, Ironwoods not gonna help and I have my hands tied... I need your help Artoria." Every logical part of me was yelling to hang up the phone, to stay out of whatever mess she's gotten tangled up in this time. But I couldn't bring myself to do it, she was practically begging for help.
Saber: "Send me the locations of the villages." My phone buzzed as I received three map locations, all of which were already pretty close to my camp. "You said more than 40 villages, why only three locations?"
Winter: "I sent you the locations of the villages closest to you." Wait!?
Saber: "How do you know where I am?!"
Winter: "Good luck out there, and keep me posted!"
Saber: "Winter! How do you know... and she ended the call." I put my phone back in my pocket and began packing up my camp.
Why do I still help her?! Sure we dated in the specialist academy, but she hasn't called for any reason other than to ask for favors since I left. And to make things worse she's dating that "Shadow" prick now.
I continued ranting to myself as I finished packing up my camp. Loading everything onto the back of my snowmobile and taking my seat, I set my gps to the first village only a hour away. The whole ride there was filled with thoughts of Winter.
I just can't get over that she's dating such a prick now, it must just be a rumor made up by some bored grunts. She couldn't go from dating me to someone like him... could she?
Saber Pov - 6 years earlier
Winter: "What do you mean you're leaving the academy!?" She yelled as I stood next to the door to our dorm room. "We're only a few months from graduating! From finally being specialists!" I felt the seed of guilt begin to grow as I saw the pain in her eyes.
Saber: "Have you seen the news lately? More and more villages are being attacked and Ironwood isn't sending any specialists to help!" She shook her head as if she didn't understand what I was saying. "I've already decided I'm transferring to become a huntsman." Winter didn't even look at me.
Winter: "How long have you been thinking of doing this without talking to me?" The guilt grew stronger as I worked up the courage to say the next words.
Saber: "About a month now." I walked towards her, trying to hold her hand. "We can still make this work though." My heart dropped as instead of grabbing my hand she avoided it outright.
Winter: "You made a life changing decision and didn't even bother telling me until you were already halfway out the door..." Her eyes stayed glued to the ground as I heard sniffling. "I hope you enjoy your life as a huntsman, but I won't be a part of it."
I stood there looking at Winter as the room filled with silence, my mind still trying to process what just happened. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't think of anything to say, so I did the only thing that made sense.
I left...
and Winter didn't call me for two years.
Saber pov - Current Time
Well I guess we didn't end things in the... best way possible, but dating him just doesn't make any sense. Well if it is true he really lucked out with Winter, I bet he wouldn't even be able to get any other girls if he tried.
