(Y/N) Pov
(Y/N): "Let me see." She handed me the binoculars, as I looked through I felt my stomach drop. "Well this is the day that just keeps on giving!" I cursed at the sight in front of me.
The village itself was filled with white fang troops, that was expected. What wasn't expected were the grimm standing by the sides of the white fang, even going so far as to wear their uniforms.
(Y/N): "Those are grimm hybrids, from the experiences I've had with them so far they're dangerous to say the least." Cinder looked slightly shocked, like she had heard about them before but hadn't expected to see them in person.
The hybrids were different from the ones I'd seen before, they looked more human and less grimm, completely controlled. My first time I met one of these they were just a messy mixture of human and grimm, bone armor and fur clashing with human skin.
That wasn't the case anymore...
black fur covered their whole bodies while hardened bone armor covered their vitals. They stood multiple feet taller than the faunus around them, their legs curved like a goat standing on it's hind legs. But the thing I feared the most was how intelligent they seemed.
The original hybrid ran around like an enraged beast, dangerous but at least it was predictable. As I watched these one I noticed they weren't just walking aimlessly, they were on patrol. With other hybrids coming to replace them.
(Y/N): "It looks like there's about thirty white fang grunts and six hybrids. Grunts walking in groups of five while the hybrids are in duos." I finally took the binoculars off and handed them back to Cinder so she could scout out as well.
Cinder: "How'd you figure all that out in just a few seconds of watching them?" She said with almost childlike curiosity in her voice.
(Y/N): "For what it was worth being in the Atlas military had it's perks, mostly training and being the reason I met my girlfriend." I had my first smile since I got sent on this mission when I thought about Winter.
Cinder: "Guys being a military boy isn't so bad." She said sarcastically before suddenly lowering the binoculars from her face and turning towards me. "You never said you have a girlfriend."
(Y/N): "Well technically I have a few." Cinder looked at me in disbelief, either she believed me and was surprised or she just thought I was fucking with her. "It's a long story." She gave a semi-understanding nod and dropped the subject. "So what do we do now?"
Cinder: "I don't know you're the one that marked this spot." I raised my finger ready to come up with an excuse, but she was right.
(Y/N): "Well you're the one that said we're going here." She mimicked my movement, raising one of her fingers before dropping it.
Cinder: "Alright it's both our faults." She said with a hint of stubbornness still.
We sat there in silence as the sun started to come up, Cinder quietly cursing to herself while trying to come up with a plan. I leaned back and enjoyed the sight of the sun rising, taking my hood off so I can feel the warm glow on my face.
Cinder: "What are you doing!?" Quickly she jumped over to me and pulled the hood over me again. "Are you trying to blow our cover?!" I lightly moved her before pulling my hood off again.
(Y/N): "No one's out here. I just wanna get this mask off for a bit." She let out a heavy sigh before giving in, surprising me by taking off her mask and laying next to me.
Cinder: "I haven't seen this kind of view in a long time." I was the only one there but it sounded more like she was talking to herself than me. "Did they have views like this in Atlas?"
