(Y/N)'s pov

I stood next to the bullhead, all of my gear already set down inside. Even with the notice ahead of time I left myself with barely any time to pack; since I was a little... preoccupied with Kali. But even with my rushed schedule I still found myself standing alone, the first one to arrive. Even the my pilot homie isn't here yet. I leaned against the metal and repeated the plan in my head.

Jump out, swim to land, hike to cave, and meet contact...

Jump out, swim to land, hike to cave, and meet contact...

Jump out, swim to land, hike to cave, and meet contact.

Gotta appreciate the simplicity of it, in planning at least, I used to have to write up entire reports just to prove I knew what the fuck was going on. Which I did... usually. I think Atlas just loved their fucking paperwork.

Tifa: "Hey Wanted Man!" My attention was drawn to the merc walking towards me, wearing her normal clothes with a duffel bag over her shoulder. "They hire you too?" I shook my head.

(Y/N): "Nah I just sorta work for them." She seemed confused by this.

Tifa: "Really? You'd make soo much more money as a merc." I shrugged.

(Y/N): "They're less dangerous ways to get rich."

Tifa: "But not less fun."

Well I suppose that's fair. She threw her duffel bag up into the bullhead before jumping up herself; I tried not to stare as her skirt lifted up in the process. I looked away as I heard footsteps approaching, turning to see Saber and Raphtalia walking up together.

Raphtalia still wore her modified White Fang uniform; while Saber had switched her, normally heavy, clothes for something lighter. As they got closer I could see their mood visibly worsen. Not complete distain but more than just a slight annoyance.

Saber: "How much'd they need to pay for you to actually care what happens to Menagerie?" I was honestly taken aback by the implications of the question.

Raphtalia: "He's not a merc he works for them." I almost thanked her before she continued. "Still I doubt he wanted to come." What the fuck?

The raccoon and huntress both continued past me, hopping into the bullhead where they were greeted by Tifa.

Tifa: "Hey, you two are here also." She said in her overly friendly tone. "I remember fighting that weird grimm thing together." She pointed at Raphtalia. "Except for you. I think you were already knocked out when I got there."

Saber seemed to be fine with Tifa's small talk but Raphtalia looked anything but happy. I doubt she had any reason to dislike Tifa so she either didn't like her bringing up the fight or she's just that upset with me. We had a long trip ahead of us so I'll figure it out later.

I climbed into the bullhead and made my way over toward the group.

Saber: "Is that you're combat gear?" There was a tone of clear judgment as she looked at Tifa's choice of clothes.

Tifa: "Yeah, I prefer my movement to be as unrestricted as possible." I couldn't help but join in.

(Y/N): "You know we're going into an active warzone?"

Raphtalia : "Which is also a desert."

I got a chuckle out of Raphtalia joining in, since she was literally sitting across the fucking bullhead and spoke without even looking up from her phone. Even with all of our skepticism Tifa seemed unfazed. Not that I was gonna complain about her outfit choice.
