Chapter 13

(Y/N) Pov

I realized the snow was much deeper than I thought when I suddenly sunk in waist deep. I looked around me to see the students and even a few members of echo team trying to move, but just looking like penguins waddling around. 

(Y/N): "Alright everyone you should be able to hear me through your helmets, to talk back press the button by your ear." I said through my helmet radio. Yang was the first to find the button and the first to make the same mistake that everyone does their first time using a radio. 

Yang: "Hey daddy~" She gave me a flirty wave, as everyone turned to her. 

(Y/N): "Yang these are two way radios, everyone can hear you!" Everyone was looking at her, echo team and Quill included. 

Yang: "Oh... I didn't know that" This was one of the few times in all her flirty moments she sounded genuinely embarrassed. Like the kind of deep seeded, future changing, career defining, embarrassment you get from calling your professor daddy in front of your aunt.

Quill: "Ignore my niece just tell us where we're going so we can get this over with." She said into her earpiece. Ozpin or someone must've made her wear that because I caught her a few times swearing about how uncomfortable it was to wear. 

Echo-1: "We got a 30 mile walk in that direction!" He said pointing while looking at his gps.

Ruby: "ALRIGHT TEAM LET'S GET GOING!!!" 

Everyone reached for their helmets, flinching and wincing as the voice of the overzealous leader echoed through our helmets.

This is gonna be a long day

- Time skip 1 hour -

Ruby: "And she said now that's a katana!" I gave a small chuckle at her story, it wasn't the best but hey, it passed the time. However I was curious about something.

(Y/N): "Hey Ruby you've mentioned your mom a few times. Am I ever gonna get the chance to meet her?" Even under all her armor I could see her shoulders slouch, Yang overheard me and walked over.

Yang: "It's a sensitive topic, she passed away a few years ago on official huntress business." I sighed, I have a wonderful way of bringing up the worst shit don't I. 

(Y/N): "I'm sorry, I didn't know." Yang just shook her head.

Yang: "It's alright you couldn't have, besides it's better for her to talk about it." She walked over to Ruby wrapping her arms around her. "Hey sis, why don't you tell him about mom some more." 

Ruby: "Do you really want to hear more stories?" Her voice was trembling as if she was on the brink of crying.

(Y/N): "Absolutely." She sniffled a few more times before starting to speak.

Ruby: "Well people say she looked just like me, but I don't really see it." Her usual demeanor started to come back as she continued to speak. "Oh oh and she made the BEST strawberry cookies ever! Right Yang?!" A soft yeah was barely heard from Yang as she just walked by her sisters side watching her intently. 

Strawberry cookies... I'll have to remember that. 

(Y/N): "You never told me her name."

Ruby: "Summer Rose."

- Time skip 3 hours - 

(Y/N), Yang, and Coco: "One bottle of beer on the wall, take it down pass it around no bottles of beer on the wall!" The rest of the group groaned in relief as we finally stopped singing.
