Chapter 16

A/N: We're getting close to the finale of the mission arc so buckle up! Shits gonna get real!

(Y/N) Pov

I couldn't feel my legs anymore.

I was on watch all night, which isn't usually a problem, however the catgirl sleeping in my lap cut off blood circulation very quickly. 

The sound of shuffling coming from the rest of the group caused me to shake Blake awake.

(Y/N): "Blake bow quick!" I whispered handing her the bow. She got up confused but once she saw the bow she realized her situation and quickly put it back on. 

Yang: "Oh hey Blake! I was wondering where you went." She walked up to us, Blake gave a nervous smile, only barely covering her ears before her partner walked up to us. "Trying to get some alone time with (Y/N) hmm~" Blake tried to hide her blush as she walked past Yang. 

Blake: "I couldn't sleep with your snoring." 

Yang: "I don't snore!" She turned towards me. "Do I snore?" I just patted her on the head.

(Y/N): "Let's go get breakfast." I walked further into the cave.

Yang: "Wait that doesn't answer my question." She followed.

I walked up to Echo team, grabbing some bread and dried meat for breakfast before sitting down next to Echo-1. 

(Y/N): "So how much longer till we get to the base?" Echo-1 was too busy eating and just pointed to his second in command. 

Echo-2: "Only a few miles, we covered a lot of ground yesterday." I nodded and went back to eating, however I noticed Echo-2 looked like he had something he wanted to say. "Umm sir... do you mind if I ask you a question?" 

(Y/N): "You don't have to call me sir and you don't need permission to speak. I'm not an officer." 

Echo-2: "Oh... well when all of this is done and we're back in Atlas would you mind taking some photos?" I was confused as to why someone would want a photo with me. "The boys in the barracks won't believe that I met you!" 

Echo-1: "I'm gonna need a picture as well!" 

Echo-3: "I get dibs on an autograph!" 

Echo-4: "Will you sign my gun?" 

Echo-5: "Can I sniff your fee-"

(Y/N): "OKAY! OKAY!" I put my hands up gesturing for them to calm down. "When we get back to Atlas I'll make sure everyone gets a souvenir, but for now let's focus on the mission." 

I looked around noticing that most of the teams were about done with their breakfast. Despite having slept a decent amount of time they still looked beaten and tired.

I would normally just say let's go but this time felt different. I stood up and walked to the center of the room getting everybody's attention on me. 

(Y/N): "I know everyone's on edge after what happened last night and I know you're all waiting for this mission to be over already but I need your full effort for just one more day!" I lifted up a picture of the base I was sent on my phone and gestured to it. "On this base were some of the best Atlas can offer and before they could even raise an alarm they were completely overrun!"

I could see some of the students shifting uncomfortably at the realization of how dangerous whatever attacked that base is.

(Y/N): "But that won't stop us! Today will be the first in a long line of victories to come! So when we fight today make sure you fight hard enough for your name to be written in the history books and your name will strike fear into the hearts of even the most villainous people!"
